Hey people!
Can you give me some advice on how to treat kicks so that they dont get artifacts when made to mp3... and other elements aswell.. but percussive elements seems to be in the risk zone...

Do i need to compress them a little, or are they fighting for room with the baseline.
maybe i sometimes forget to export a single kick and adjust it correctly..

but some lower freq kicks dont get this artifact..
btw the latest time i have been using bassizm to create kicks...
I like it a lot..

Cheers all!

could you provide a sample where we can listen to those artifacts? maybe its about proper dithering i assume..

do you dither before downgrade to mp3?           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

Zork my man!!
no i dont!

I export from Cubase, often the project is mixed with 16 and 24bit files... then i run the wav through T-racks for simple premaster, then i import to adobe audition and make fadein/outs and export to mp3..

Please tell me more..
Btw you are the man! i have a huntch you can help me.

This one have them, listen to the kick and you will hear at some points...

though maybe it can have to do with bad production technique and bad frequency treatment?

Doesn´t sound like dithering problem, why would only one element get affected and not the rest in the whole file. Provide sample and perhaps some more data perhaps we can help you out.           Demand recognition for the Armenian genocide 1915

Not quite sure what i should listen to, there is one part @ 1.50 something.. .where a compressor squishes everything , is that what you mean=?           Demand recognition for the Armenian genocide 1915

Must be my ears then, ill see if i can fix it anyway, hehe.. thanks Zork! i will mix it soon, maybe you can tell me which sound(s) so i can have a head-start when taking care of them cheers...

but you guys must understand what i mean, when converting to lower bit rates especailly percussive instruments gets whack, so it there a trick here.. or should we just ditch lower bit rates?
