All the rest bore me alot or force me to argue with my friend that "not all of it is this bad..."
[/quote]
course that occurs on the otherside of the spectrum too when they arent into/understanding whats up with the chainsaw madness getting dropped on their freshly vulnerable domepiece.
I guess the thing is, there is so much intelligently made dark trance out there, that poorly done cliche baby killer horror trance really shouldnt have that much of a market.. lets dig deeper yea? but hey to each his own, I think the horror stuff is pretty funny sometimes and the whole satan worship stuff is a great inside joke
facehead put it well.. in fact chuck dialed it down. getting all judgemental on the dancefloor kills the vibe, but then again so does slaughtering it early on. I think there is alot of programming that goes into a party, first by the promoter arranging the artists and then by the artists themselves actually playing their slot to reflect the time and energy of the crowd. the best DJs I know, dont just drop the same style all the time, its dependant on when they are slotted and where the kids are at as to how far they take it.
I miss dancing through the entire party though and lately I've been often distracted by other things (like keeping the thing running) to get to do that, but in smaller parties that energy becomes that much more important to keeping a floor alive. I'm a firm believer in having as many styles as you can flow into the party, I dont want to hear 12 hours of the same style, I want to hear the gamut of psychedelia, I want the freshest tunes from a variety of sources flowed into a coherent experience that starts funky in the evening, goes power or fullon or whatever as it gets dark, then turns sinister and nutty after midnight and lightens up around 4am into some more powerful morning sounds and then bring up the sunrise proper maybe even with a little melody that can drift off into dub by afternoon. thats my ideal party right there, and thats what I want to create.
I think people appreciate the dark psy alot more when they dont hear it the whole time, if the progression flows right then it helps to serve as the peak in the wave of the party before it slowly comes back down into morning. I guess I just personally cant dance to the 150+ stuff all night, but you give me a few hours of it and I can hang proper and still have some energy in the morning, you give me a whole night of it and I'm going to wander off to the chill stage somewhere to see if they got any funky idm going on.
I think honestly this is why I'm stoked about gemini, I know lawrence is meticulously planning timeslots and weighing possibilities and I trust that hes going to bring a proper flow to the thing which will make it killer (which I hear it is every year but this is going to be the first time I make it out west for it)
great thread guys, its encouraging to see this topic not turn into another flame war. there is hope yet!

Some people say over 150 whatever looses its "trance". Its all up for interpretation for sure. Some of the trippiest tracks i've heard are well over 150. If you have trouble dancing to fast trance...then you should re-evaluate the way you get down to trance...you don't have to move to every beat...if the beat is fast stomp on the half beat...improvise

@thegooddale
thats ok man we are all entitled to our opinions of course. That doesnt mean you arent missing out on aspects of the experience by limiting yourself. That is not a trash talking or an insult or anything like that whatsoever. whatever path we take in life is undoubtably the right one for us. There are still way too many things in life to explore them all so mimiting ourselves a bit isnt bad.
Like im not gonna go deer hunting just to see what it feels like.
@ the forum
Its similar to alot of todays humor look at things like adult swim and south park n stuff like that we are all laughing hysterically at aids and rape jokes and about superstars blowing their own heads off or at something with rabies eating babies. people or characters are brutalized non stop and we laugh at it and enjoy it. Why would positive happy people find hillarious all in our world that is awful. Maybe its just our comfortable way of confronting what makes us feel vulnerable or scared or offended or whatever. Im pretty sure that pertains to the dark side of anything psychedelic its there for us to confront those things. In opening your mind you are forcing vulnerablility on yourself and vulnerability is the basis of most fears. I.E. truly letting go is freaking scary even with beautiful music instead of intense.
The intense music is just design to give you a strong nudge in the right direction. The abstraction of the sounds involved are confusing entertainingly confusing and laughing at your fears is also really beneficial. But ithink its made to be agressive and confusing to push you to let go go and the pretty stuff its there to inspire you or uplift you and comfort you after going through the fear and confusion of having just left your conscious mind in the dust.
Im not saying any opinion is invalid or that anyone is less than if they dig only one style just that it isnt experiencing the full spectrum of what is there being offered at an event. id rather feast at a buffet and take that opportunity to sample small portions of dishes that I would never order on their own. who knows i might not like the way they taste at first but i may feel really good afterwards and accept the flavor as one of its cons but eat it anyway because its good for me.
We are constantly changing creatures and if we dont keep ourselves open to change then we will miss many opportunities to change. Many of us never knew we liked electronic music at all till we made ourselves show up. even though it was uncomfortable we tried it anyways. I talk to alot of people that were metal heads who didnt go to the rave or goth scenes first but all of a sudden they like psy trance the first electronic music they sampled. How uncomfortable it must be to be a seasoned metal head thrown in the mix with all the bright colors and happy prancing trance pantsters. (i wasnt a metal head. my head was made out of something thick and calloused i belive) I know i felt simultaneously tougher, cooler, more vulnerable and more estranged than everyone at my first party because i wasnt dancing or smiling. I wouldnt allow myself to do so. I wouldnt allow myself to let go or be open to anything. Making the transition from "i dont care so f you world", "to i dont care so im gonna dance around wearing a pink scarf" is an awkward one. In the end i know from my life experience and listening to others and observing them that it is infinitely ok to stick to your guns and have your tastes but you never know what you might like next if you are always reminding yourself of what you liked before as the reality of what you like at this instant. uh translation if you tell yourself ahead of time that this is what i like when you reach that moment of opportunity you wont even look for it because you already know what you like and you put that info in your personal file for reference when you are faced with the thought do i or will i like this or not. uh re-translation if you base currently what you are open to off of what you were open to in the past you will miss the opportunity to benefit from anything outside of your likes.
We can choose that and we can live happy and fulfilling lives going either way i jsut think itd be nice if all of us could leave no possibility ignored.
P.S. be careful though, you may end up being a miley cirrus fan if you leave your mind hanging open.

yea with faster stuff you have to change it up, though really when it gets super fast the beat just kind of fades out of my perspective as far as dancing goes and I'm reacting to the other sounds. I can keep up with it for quite some time, but I didnt come from a hardcore background so if its an extended period or the whole show I'm going to get burned out.
ok ok I'm going to close my mind now before miley cirrus can get in hehe
I'll try to remember to bring a pink boa for you next time chuck, that would be dope. you need to get a really twisted mask to wear for your sets.. maybe one with like three faces like alex grey's godhead paintings (something like this http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3123/2891966992_9be1b01cc1.jpg?v=1222536648 )
actually if you manage to find a mask that cool, let me know, I want one too!

Its ok, You should be sorry for being you
When you said "you used to like Gil's music" you should of added as a " Dj" and specified what party to be more exact because his music would lean more towards the "Nommos" which doesn't apply in your " serve" or does it? If you could be more direct in telling us what 160+ tracks your referring to by giving tracks and artist names instead of singling Gil out, racist would sum that up. I know your a Dj and all, but why don't you educate yourself about the music just a little bit more before you knock another Dj in such an Epic subject. I'd like to say I'm sorry for calling Bastard a girl and I do feel if there were a novel written about our discoveries in this subject it would be Epic which is way more interesting than the sound itself.
Your A, B, C and D questions that you later came in to cover up as a "serve" were not just questions, they were statements as well to use as a "ploy" . please go back and read, if you were seeking then why did you give your answers first and not after the serve was done? Not well thought out and if your not to sure what ploy means, i gave a definition when talking towards Miss eleven.
Allow me to answer your questions directly to you.
A. Lots of people have the lack of desire to expend effort, it's OK .What do you think the trance dance experience is about other than dancing? Please don't say socializing, you can get that anywhere. Please don't pull out the standards either, we set them as we go.
B. I believe myself and others answered you so you wouldn't need to think to much here with the exception about kids. If you want to shelter your children, that's your choice.
C. i believe myself and others answered you so you wouldn't need to think to much here.
D. you got plenty of help in that area, what would your metal friends think if you told them that the Cosmo music was actually music for brunch time or fluffy in their World?
What is an "ancient tribal ritual" and how many tribes originally were there? did you ever think that you could be in the wrong tribe to make you question anyone's "redefinition"?
You said : "I understand the idea of the quickening" which was a hint to me that you may know of them just like I know of airplanes that i can't fly. I understand it wasn't well written to describe your actual knowledge.
you said : "I like my uncomprehensible music at a comprehensible tempo to fully dance to, not just to half of the sounds, I like to be FULLY controlled by the audio/psychic energy paradigm, leaving no sound unexpressed by my body." LOL.. Try it first, before you commit or referrer to "A." above. Not one sound gets missed, actually you'll find yourself as a dancer waiting for more sound. I really enjoyed your joke about siths, do you have any about vampires?
You made 5 post without one elevating statement to your own Quest, which is why i asked you to "please enjoy the music while your party is reached". I was trying to help you see with your own mind.
Once you gave me proof that you were using Gil to elevate yourself to become a "full fledged isratrancer" and view this as a game, is when i became upset in "you". If you want to play games just say so, I have some very good games to play that I learned in the parking lot's of Jedi conventions that you might like but then again you may not, they aren't about winning.
Other than the "saturated and unsaturated" things, by far this is one of the most interesting Us and Them topics ever...
"Traditionalist", when I say I'm "PunkRock" doesn't necessarily reflect everything you feel you may know. The Punk movement wasn't just about sound. It was also about breaking standards/traditions so it wouldn't limit their artistic creativity, as it may have in you...
So where are we at ? i guess i should read to catch up before they hog tie me up for bedtime.

Kevin, if you really think my involvement w/ this thread has anything to do with me becomming an "isratrancer"? I made a joke about the time I have spent on a website....hardly a status attempt....if I wanted status, I'd have everyone go to my brand new web site www.fattyownsnuero.com and buy my new album!
And you're right....instead of typing my own long version of this topic, which often is worthless as far as communicating what one was thinking, either because of poorly thought out wording, or because sometimes when someone gets reallly going with their subjective idea's, it seems a little more like manic expression of a completely subjective experience without any OBJECTIVE reference points for others to use in furthering their understanding (at least in my case) than conversations pieced together from different peoples points of view..... I layed a lit mitch in a waiting brushpile.... The reason for this, is, after years of thinking that whatever answers I had for people were really important, I learned to listen to as many opinions as possible at once, and usually somewhere within those fragments I have found MY truth
As far as your response to my A. categorie..... I have a lasting injury from dancing uncontrollably, one that will hinder me from doing so in the future....no ones fault but my own, but it certainly reminded me that YES, I can pass my day-to-day boundaries, but if i push TOO hard, those boundaries WILL push back...i guess this really comes down to the burn out or fade away problem.....sure drivin fast will send you some endorphins, but taking your time will let you soak in so much more input, and questionably heighten your experience of that path you have taken....
And calling me RACIST? I just dont get it. If you think you're tapped in to something beyond what my puny little sheltered world has shown my virgin eyes, I say ahhh-chuuu (as in a sneeze)
If you mean no ill will, then neither do I....but lets keep this about the music, if we may
And PRODUCERS of the style that I am REFERRING to, not making any QUALITATIVE statements, are:
terranoise
ankur
highko
cosmo
osom project
Furious (some of his fast tracks are among his best)
Kindzadza
Zik
And again. I like a lot of music these guys make, and for that matter, I like a lot of what Gil PLAYS....
An odd point, my last conversation with Gil he said he was dissapointed with how fluffy Kindzadza, Furious, and Cosmo were heading.... just goes to show, all subjective
the star wars stuff aint a joke, and you know that, captain lizzard

Fatty, I'm fully aware that this is your story, you can tell it anyway you choose. The question is, "Do we buy it?"
AND
Do you know what culture this word comes from "InLakesh"
Please don't hang on to that part of the satellite. it will break if handled to long, then i will need to use the emergency backup boosters to break orbit. Which may cause my "trip" in becoming a little more difficult in coming back. Who likes bad "trip" so please "LET GO"
Maybe you should start a different topic for your revised questions. Page "one" does wonders..
I'm joking in the most Phaty-ass of ways.. I'm off my rocker they say. i can't tell if I'm looking out or are they looking in

Are you suggesting that I don't buy PEACE?
I'm mean, it was a great track and all by Megadeath but it had to much Epic/drama to me dealing with Metallica.
Then again, I have peace and whats this friend stuff about? Why would I stop our friendship over you helping solve this issue with Nuerotrance Dark Light and Gil. Thank gosh its over..
anytime someone gets lost all we need to do is send this link to them..
You rock... friends til the end and some...

The aforementioned above is proof that threads like these are designed only for chaos and the derailment of humanity as we know it.
Threads like these can turn best of friends into pitted arch nemesises (sp?) arguing over nothing.
You see, the baby jesus, he's crying.
