I use Ultrabass MX for Subbass and BazzIsm for Kick.
Would be really happy about some useful tips!

there is so much info on this subject here. probably best tip is to dive into that.
the sample has little mid frequencies, therefore is lacking character (snap). envelope amount, decay, cutoff are the parameters that normally regulate snap.
my tip is to put those parameters under knobs in a midi-controller and play around with them.
its probably just a small tweak in these parameters that will bring live to the bass.
my feeling with ultrabass is that it either sits directly quite good or it wont work. maybe try different vst. lately i liked sylenth1 for bass.
there were some very good soundbanks for psy bass posted here.

First of i do not make Darkpsy but i wonder, do you use EQ plugins? I can recommend waves "dynamic" plugin's for instance. The sound is a bit muddy but other than that it seems ok...

get the bass to sound good *without* any plugins
use notes from 37hz to 80hz, and make sure transpose on the synth is set to 0
play around with note length (between 1/32 and 1/16)
dont let the bassnotes run into one another, or into the kick. also check the length of your kick. if it runs into the first bassnote you will lose the rolling bassline
adjust filter cut off, apply filter envelope and adjust decay
as far as EQ, do a cut at 30hz and maybe a notch around 500hz to your liking
if you want to use RBass, set it at the frequency of the note you are playing and bring the "intensity" fader down, its probably set too high http://soundcloud.com/soospicey

When the bass wobbles over the kick you can use cableguys volumeshaper (free plugin on his website) and set the plugin to 1/4 beat, Saw wave and Init preset. This is good when wobbling occures.

Here's one of your problems: you have a ton a great tools but don't know them, therefor its the same as not even having them at all. You should get to know your tools, how to use them, how they sound and work, what they can do and what is the ways it alters the sounds. So, later on, you can identify something you want to do and say "hey I know just the tool to use". Just like everything in life, it takes some time to learn and master whatever.. and you need to dedicate that time to it (even if it means spending days doing nothing just fiddleling with knobs).

This is often underrated, but I'm with you: less is more, get it right at the source. If the VSTi is spitting out a great bass, there's no need to process the audio to oblivion -> and there's no rules.

Yo man this sounds great! Probably it has a little too much Bass energy (but that's it's purpuse in the mix, you have to make the mix to tell if it fits ok first).
If you really want a bass VST, then you can try the Ultrabass http://www.g-sonique.com/ultrabassmx.html However, I'm with soospicey -> there's no need for a specific plugin, as long as you know how to make a synth "dance". My *typical* chain starts with an Operator (simple synthesizer, used as a 3osc or a 2osc with a third and forth FM osc), and lay around with the filter, osc, filter envelope and osc envelope. The result may be fed into an EQ, a saturator, a distortion unit and/or a compressor -> but usually never all these at once and in different orders. to finish, the bass has a sidechain compressor (feed by the kick), and is mixed into the beat bus channel with the kick. The resulting K+B usually has a compressor to help glue both kick and bass together.
Just do whatever sounds good, there has to be other people on this planet who likes the same thing as you.

waves maxxbass & rbass are to make your low bass audible in soundsystem with crappy low end. this is not enhancer or bass booster like many people thinks. everything is in manual.
L2 and other brickwall limiters are peak limiters so i don't see a reason to use it on bassline track.
now i can recommend lennardigital sylenth1 for bass because i made last 3 tracks with it. but you can use any modern synth to make bass. it is very hard to make good bass with vb-1 if youre not experienced.
Try even a Synth1. The trick is to set proper a EQ.
Im using also an 'character compressor' (emulation of hardware) just for make timbre and another compressor for general purpose - it works for me.
in most cases you need just simple synth, eq & compressor to make good bassline and also some experience, good monitors & room

the bass is not bad to me, it s fine for the genre no? with some sounds on top.. dunno if it s soundcloud but you see the peak in the tail of the kick clashing with the bassline?if it s really there it s not good to have big peak here cause you loose headroom, it can also sound weird and could even bring out more distortion later when mastering cause of cliping limiting for loudness.. you loose some loudness potential with stuff like this.
about the limiter it could be usefull for the subs, a mastering engeinner who master for labels with big names in trance, techno, like tiesto or armin van burren i dont remember ... he probably know what he is talking about told me something like if you don't compress your low end, it s the amps of the clubs that will do it for you.. and it s not something you want ,or at least you want to minmize it.. before i was always using a sidechain filter when compressing sound with low but less now , it should not have much dynamic range down there and be well under control , thought it s debatable it might depends the tunes and tastes
