Why do low bitrate (streaming) mixes just sound soooo SEXY?

Hi,
I have alot of low bitrate (32+Kbps/22kHz) Psy mixes which I suppose were intended to be streamed using WinAmp etc.
My question is why do they sound so sexy/funky?
Is it just that they are low quality and my brain kind of fills in the "gaps" so to speak...

maybe because low bitrate = dirty sound
I also think that sometimes when I stream tracks, they sound better than with high bitrate.

i know this effect and i believe it is because everything that sound a bit obscure gets more mystic and kind of sounds adventurous or something like that. or it is as trip said - it sounds like birdzzzz |
