I have noticed this atleast 90times out of 100...that whenever a Dj or an Artist finishes his or her set....The DJ's usually move off....they do not stay in the party till the end....They dont come out and dance to the other dj's music....there are a couple of exceptions....I have seen Dark Soho & Winter demon....do that...

but y not all....?

Maybe they have to catch an early flight?

Maybe they jet - lagged?

Maybe they wanna catch a nap before having to fly out to another gig?

Maybe they gettin some *ass* ?

Maybe they cant hear anymore psy for that nite?

Maybe they REALLY fcuked up with drugs ?

Maybe they just wanna leave!!

From my own experience.

I sometimes leave because i need a moment to gather my senses after a huge release of energy and great concentration. Specially if I played a long set. I need the mind to recover a bit. I imagine this also happens to artists as well.

Also sometimes ppl have things to do, places to go and ppl to meet Also DJs are tired from travelling and many times play several days in a row. But, I saw Son Kite and the whole Iboga crew in the dancefloor in Mexico I always see the DJs and artists doofing all and about in SF.

I played a short set B4 Astral the other day and I dance for a couple of hours to their live set.

I think the simplest way to answer this is because 90 times out of 100 the DJ´s spinning have other and better things to do than stay at the party.

1.: Go home and sleep, rest and so forth so they can live normal lives with jobs etc. If you spin often, you need to give it some thought, because else you fuck your sleep cycle up completely.

2.: Its early in the morning, they are not on drugs and therefore they are tired - They just performed, and gave it all they had.
Many DJs have been at the venue for a long time, listening to what the others have played before them, so they have an idea of the flow - Or just because they have nowhere else to go.

3.: They have girls or guys lined up to perform oral sex and other sexual acts for them.

4.: People are too fucked up on drugs, and they prefere not be there and watch it get worse.

5.: They experienced so many parties, they dont want to spend their time at the party because its just "more of the same".

6.: They dont get paid for staying.

7.: They want to go home and masturbate while contemplating on all the chicks who danced to their set.

As far as Im concerned. I stay somewhere if I like it there and have nothing better to do - Or else, I move on... Theres your answer.

Best wishes

Some djs aware of their ears
Some djs hear so much music that they can't really enjoy it for long
Some djs have another party to play on

So many speculations

I can only speak for myself.

A case senario:

I arrive to X Airport in X country and get picked up by the Organsier that if I am lucky let me get a shower and a bite to eat. But most of the time I got no choice but to go with him to the party place because he have to be there. So I stand in the party place long before the party start and I have to play at lets say 3-5 in the morning. I might enjoy the party if many things click and the vibe is good. But to be honest after partying since 1992 and dj'ing since 1994 most parties dont "blow" my mind away anymore. So I do my job and enjoy it and after I dont see a reason why I should stay unless the party is really good (or I am drunk which rarely happens - I do not take drugs anymore). I do need some sleep and people tend to forget that DJ's and artists many times traveled a long way and used a lot of hours in Airports and flights before arriving to X country and the party. No wonder they are tired when they might been up for more than 24 hours.

Just a little case senario from one that's been doing it for years.

I've seen the expressions on alot of artists face .. just come down.. play there set and leave as if they kinda 'got over what they were paid to do tonight' kinds. Its no different with the DJ's either. As far as i've seen they kinda seperate themselves from the crowd. Maybe they think they are WAY above us or maybe they've lost the raving spirit. Who knows.
Saddening sometimes.

Sorry but i disagree. If anyone seperate the DJ's and artists from the crowd it's the crowd itself with all the groupy worshipping mentality. I for one dont want to spend all my time in a party signing authographs. Thats not what this scene is about!

And believe me after being an artists and DJ in this scene for more than 12 years I can easily tell you that in 95% it's people that see us as someone that dont want to be on the floor among "ordinary" people. Actually the reality is that we do indeed like to be on the floor if people can leave us alone and let us dance. We havent changed who we are (well most of us). People around us are usually the ones that change the way they see us.

And and I can tell you that the last 5-6 years haven't made things better. On the contrary! Before we were equal to people on the floor and could enjoy the parties and dance. Today if an artist or DJ goes down to dance he/she wont get far before he's/she's been sourounded by countless worshipping groupies. Maybe thats why dj's and artists choose to stay away fromt he floor

Try and think about what I wrote before you judge us as DJ's and artists thinking we are better than you!

Well.. I guess asking DJ's and Artists to sign autographs isnt something that happens here. So I guess i'll still stick to what I think. We've had numerous artists come down here and play and I havent seen people crowd them or try and be a little to friendly to a point it gets irritating. Its just another game with the ego for these guys.

how about an extra option:
dj's/ artists enjoy having a chat with the ones that invited them or with befriended artists backstage. Besides the fact backstage is cool, its also quite often a good (more silent) place to have a chat and relax.

That too indeed.

And as I wrote earlier. How can people expect an artist to dance and be one with the crowd if that artist just spend x many hours in airports and flights and quite a long time waiting before the party to start and then waiting x hours to play? - Many times without even getting a shower to freshen him/her up. Artist are not different from other people and tend to need to relax and get some sleep and believe me it's not so easy to sleep in flights and in airports and in many cases the organsiers try to cut the expenses and find very cheap flights where the artists have to change flights in another airport which extend the travel time quite a deal.

Sometimes we need peace and quite and to just relax and have a laugh and a talk with someone we know backstage. It also sometimes get's quite lonely to go to parties and play where you know nobody. So if you meet another artist you actually know it's very natural that you hang out with that person. I hardly see that as being wrong or "stuck up" and being better than the crowd!

And isen't the whole party idea about you people dancing and not really care who's playing?

Without intending to offend anyone here I think the ones that complain that the artists are "stuck up" are the biggest groupies or worshippers.

the two dj's i've seen come down after their set and dance with the crowd to the dj next up were neuromotor and audiobrains. These two guys have really good energy and i guess they put in their two hundred percent off and on the console regardless of what ever next in store. no ego.. nothing just the vibe with the crowd . but then its different with different people.           missing plug-in
