^Full on is right in his descriptions however, here in mexico you can find two or threee parties each year very well organized, with the right spirit and packed with very good music. This parties are medium size (2000 to 4000 people), while big commercial ones have an average of 6,000 to 8,000.
And also out of the big parties there are small ones which gather long time ravers.

First latin people are more open minded, Second the exotic locations and nice weathers!
But it has more to do with the commercial aspect and that it has no psychedelic aspect what so ever like login said, I have look at many of the video of the parties in Brazil and the production looks amazing but I dont really see psy culture that is only my opinion mexico have a large scene but is not so international I never hear any of my forign friends saying they would go to mexico for a festival. I live near Mexico and I still would not go to mexico the narco violence there is out of control! |

The narco violence is concetrated in the north of the country, specially in Ciudad Juarez, Tijuana and Nuevo laredo. But if you travel to Mexico city, Cancun, oaxaca or Chiapas you will find it at ease.

Actually can you tell why mexico doesnt have huge internatinoal festival like Universo Paralello? Because you have huge line up with huge productions. I would go to mexico if it had a true international festival meaning that at least 25-30 percent of the attendance is coming from everywhere in the world! |

^^ I dont know first because mexico is just to far from everyother place country where psy is popular, we are a little bit isolated. Europe is too far and for other latin countries the trip is too large. Brazil can gather people from Argentina, uruguay, paraguay and venezuela which are close.
Second because there is no promoters with the money and organization capabilities and profesionalization that is required. (there are ones who are professionals but doesnt have money for something like that, and the ones with the money but no interest in it).
the biggest festival that has been held was beat On the Beach 2006, with big line up for threee days at a wonderfull beach, it came people all over the country. But it was still far of something like Universo paralello.

Mexico is perfectly located even more that Brazil close to Miami and all the US psy freak and central america and the other south american countries. Besides if you location has everything you would go to thailand or india thats not the problem and cheaper than brazil also! I have seem some the videos of you parties and they look large to me alot money into them so money is not an issue! I saw the festival you are talking about and the location was amazing but reading in the forums no body was really yea lets go to mexico. So all those reason are not really valid!
You have amazing locations, have money, you have talented VJ, Deco, and DJ and live artist so why dont people go to mexico like they would to universo paralello? Give a me real answer |

Mexico and Brazil are huge countries both in size (13th and 5th) and population (11th and 5th) plus the majority of people are young instead of the old people of Europe or USA (life expectancy in Europe is 10-15 years more than that of Brazil and Mexico).
Among all these demographic and geographic facts we have the fact that authorities in Latin Countries are not so well organised and strict like the ones in Europe for example.I mean the normal police force of Brazil in compare to the ones in Spain and Italy look probably like a kindergarden. Not to mention that it is well known that in poor countries it is much easier to bribe officials than in other more economically developed countries.
Combine all these things together and you have a clear picture why psy trance is so big in Mexico and Brazil and also keep in mind that this kind of music is relatively new to these countries because when in Europe parties were taking place Brazil and Mexico werent part of the well known trance world.

I'll give you a real answer, we are simply tired of seeing those parties that you said you've seen on youtube, maybe money is not an issue but laundering money from drugs, is! we already have enough of that shit!
think is cool, they do bribe the cops, and, get dealers over and all that crap, is psychedelic??? even when it seems that all the dirty hippies love to come down to our countries to be in connection with nature and blah blah blah and all that bullshit of PLUR,
they come here to get fucked up for cheap, if not ask any white trash kid from San Diego what would they do if they had 50usd and a car, easy fella they'll cross the border to get fucked up in Tijuana which is like 20 min drive.
now what happens with the 85% of gringos that get fucked up, they get robbed for being stupid and act as superheroes, well in Mexico, el Chingon chingo a su madre....
thats why they dont come over.
but if is quantity what you aim for, got for it!. I'll stick to quality as I have for the last 6 years....

Here is my point...
I think Brasil have a big scene cause we have lot of wonderful places, wonderful people (main the girls), professional people that make the parties, good taste of choose the artists to play, also many... I say many money scrolling within it all.
As FullOn said in first page, most of the people go just to snob their objects, not to have an experience like was a long time ago, today the partie is one more "The partie of the night", and that´s all! I like the commercial parties, I prefer this kind of partie much more than PVTs partie, cause usually people that are frequently PVTs parties are the kind of people that love to take drugs until he be out from himself... it´s disgusting!

hey maby most of the thing about mexico are true.. cant talk about brazil cause i've never been there.
but mexico its a very big country..and the norther part have a very relativly small scene.. and have heard from friends from the southern part that this factor makes great partys..maby we have not as many money to invest in great decor or to make a 100 day festival but things are done as we can..
mexico has a very psychadelic history..not only because of the drugdealers and psytrance..but because our ancestors..our cultur its psychadelic and no one can deny that

Less than 1% ever saw an original CD in their life, and surely few people know which DJ is playing. Not to mention that consuming alcohol is a most in these parties, they sell whiskey, vodka, caipirinha and lots of beer.
Bottom line: it is big because it has no psychedelic aspect whatsoever, and instead it is commercial to the bone. You buy your place in the party instead of being part of it. Of course you can still have lots of fun with your friends in this kind of parties, but do not expect to have psychedelic experiences there.

somewhat true unfortunately- but this is more about the "parties" (one night stands with hommega acts) than the festivals (campouts for multiple days with deco and vibe)
size is something but not everything
critical mass is needed in north america for example, but in brazil it seemed to me like it would be all about the right vibe and not just going to anything...
also there was not much acid at all and not many people had heard of it or taken it...
they like to drink and snort coke and smoke maconia... but they are very nice... brazilians on coke are like new yorkers on valium. still pretty mellow |
