I think because in this countries officials can be bribed to let the parties go no...
In Mexico also many teenagers go because at outdoor festivals nobody asks for ID.
And in the end because in both countries people love to party...
why in the rest of latin america the scene hasnt grown?

Particulary in Mèxico was the jewish people who introduce the full on, they have much influence in here
and raves was a space where younger people can to take drugs, meet other psychers. was a social phenomen.
but now the scene is almost death, the explotion was since 2000 at 2006 now is bigger the onther places but not the big who was in that years
with the popularity of progressive trance and now minimal techno, people change of point of view |

I also thought the same, but if you look outside mexico city psytrance is very big in Guadalajra and monterrey still, and you have some parties in cancun, sonora and also in some of the center of the country. In winter there are some events in the south also, mainly in palenque.

I think it's mainly bacause people are so warm and loving in south american countries. Simply there's so mush love for partying and being together in those countries.
I haven't lived there, but as a tourist comparing to many other countries that I've been to (from europe and uk to asian countries) I can't even compare the culture of people in south america to other places.
I think in all the other countries (I've been to) people have become so cold and individualist(specially in our generation) that even in psytrance parties you can feel it.
Again this is only so please don't shoot me if you are disagree!

I think it is because most people here (Brazil) just want to get high in "THE party of the night". So if there's a “rave”, which here designates an electronic music party, everybody goes there to show off their latest cameras, cellphones, jeans, etc…
Less than 1% ever saw an original CD in their life, and surely few people know which DJ is playing. Not to mention that consuming alcohol is a most in these parties, they sell whiskey, vodka, caipirinha and lots of beer.
Bottom line: it is big because it has no psychedelic aspect whatsoever, and instead it is commercial to the bone. You buy your place in the party instead of being part of it. Of course you can still have lots of fun with your friends in this kind of parties, but do not expect to have psychedelic experiences there.

hahaha yea there is so much love that every day there are hundreds people murdered in those countries, and only in Mexico we are talking about thousends of people so much love they kill eachother.
sory psysnoopy could not help but your argument in my eyes is very ridicoulius. maybe high population, good climate and a lot of space/nature. and the menatlity of people can be some of the reasons IMO.

As some others have already said, I would think that large population, good weather and lots of nice open space combined with being up for a party/wanting to get high explains it very well!
Is having big commercial parties much better than none at all? I didn't think that was what the psy-scene was about. What does everyone else think about that?

1- By loving I meant warm and having somuch love and energy for partying and being together. I didn't mean those countries are heaven and all people living there are angels.
2- It's not only in those countries that people murder each other, FYI it happens in many other countries as well, and no country is paradise, you have criminals everywhere. But every country has some beautiful points and what I mentioned, was a good thing that I thought about south american countries.
3- I said as a tourist and if you've lived there, well, for sure "the grass is always greener on the other side"
4- THNX for your "RESPECT"!

1. so only there are loving and warm people with energy and being together only there?? warm and loving people i met aswell in Africa, south Europe, Asia at many parts of the world where psytrance scene is not that big.
2. for sure there are criminals all over the world but please informe you well about the situation in Mexico and Brasil, i don't know any country for example in Europe where so much people are murdered each day as it happens in Mexico or suburbs of bigger Brasilian cities.
i have also experencied it by my own (threated by guns).
4. is that sarcastic??? cause i did't show you any disrespect, it's just differetn opinion and point of view.

Well, these countries have "big scenes", but it is not like they have "big PSY scenes". They just have lots of parties.
You must keep in mind that most of these parties have very poor decoration, very few of them have a chill space, people are on the wrong drugs, the sound system usually sucks (when compared to other countries), usually there's no respect from the organizers to the people so we have TONS of trash on the ground and very few trash cans, etc... Did I forget to mention most DJs have no DJ skills whatsoever and many still play fresh from trading killer unreleased mp3?
So it does not offer the environment for a proper psychedelic trip. I wouldn't call it a psyscene, but just a big party scene in which some people sometimes play proper psytrance. In that sense Ibiza has an even stronger scene.
So why artists like so much the Brazilian so much? Because the people are warm, there will always be a big doped crowd screaming in your set, international artists are instant idols and main target of blowjobs, and Brazil is one of the few countries in which you can play in 6+ parties in 2 weeks and earn money with that.

^^ full_on, that a real shame. When events are put on just to make money it's not a good start
It's all the opposite qualities to the ones you describe that makes me like the psy parties I go to. Good decor & lights, a proper dedicated chill/downtempo room with appropriate DJs & live acts combined with respectful organizers and chilled people are the key things for me.
Although I must admit I don't go out that much these days.
