| Synthetic music for synthetic people?
Maybe -- I came to psytrance because it had the most "organic" sound of all machine music. Hard techno, hardcore and IDM are synthetic musics, IMO.
How about "shroomed music for shroomed people"? "herbed music for herbed people"? Seriously though...
Drugs are a catalyst (not THE catalyst) for something greater. There's a saying about psychedelics -- "when you get the message, hang up the phone". A lot of artists hung up the phone! There's a difference between getting your initial inspiration from drugs and living party to party. The Ozrics for instance, are VERY shroomy. Hallucinogen and Kox Box are VERY acid. But those guys live almost totally clean now! Going back further, a lot of ex-druggies went to live very aesthetic lives in poor countries because of their spiritual awakening. Goa Gil anyone?
Look, I don't use drugs -- not my lifestyle, not my body type. I like eating and sleeping But it doesn't have to be this "serious trancer"/"hedonistic drug user" dichotomy. Drugs can turn you "onto" something, make you confront aspects of your reality. Not just turn you on. |
|
Inu - I agree with you fully, especially with the last part. The reality isn't going much to this way tho.. Most of the ppl dont want to confront aspects of their reality but loose it for few hours and come back to another stressed out week. Hence my assumption -
Synthetic music for Synthetic ppl ( today more than ever )

I think that we should seperate 2 topics here:
1. Why do people go to parties?
2. Are drugs the origin of the trance scene?
So we decided that some people go to parties sober and have fun. Other take drugs and have (more) fun.
Each person should live his life the way he thinks is the best.
But for the second topic, there is no discussion.
Psychedelic music is made out of psychedelic drugs.
The people who make that music are doing it based on psychedelic experiences they had, propably at past parties.
So for those people who are so against drugs, you should know that not only trance music was made this way.
If you like the music of:
1. Pink floyd
2. Jimy Hendrix
3. The doors
4. The Beatles (late period)
Then you should know it would have never existed without drugs. And mostly LSD.
My point is that you can enjoy music without drugs, but you should know where it came from...

"The people who make that music are doing it based on psychedelic experiences they had, propably at past parties."
Sorry mate but that's utterly crap and you know it. Do you know every single artist? You certantly dont know me and I can tell you that I DONT make music out of any psychedelic expereince... I make it out of love for the music and because it's always been in my blood since I was 14-15 years old when i started to make music. I am 37 now. And I for sure did not know what LSD, Ecstacy and other drugs were all about when I started making music!!!!!!
So please once and for all stop thinking you know the "truth" and that you hold the key to this scenes why's !!!!
Go do your drugs but do it in silence and stop involve us in it. |

OK. Stop it here.
SpEaKa HuGgEr, first of all, stop being the "source of universe knowledge", which knows everything. As for your question, you should know that what is BEST for you can be SHIT for the others, and vice versa. So, your question is out of line. And nobody can answer you.
EP, please once and for all stop thinking you know the "truth" and that you hold the key to this scenes why's !!!!
P.S.
I don't want replys to this post.

yu still haven't learned that there's no such things as the "best". it's only a matter of taste. anyhoo i really doubt IE Mozart did any drugs.. and after all he's THE BEST musician/composer/artist ever.. by the way i like the beatles' early production way more.. |

You guys crank me up big time... where did I say I know the truth? All I said is that SpEaKa HuGgEr
should stop making it sound like every single artist make music from a drug experience... To say such a thing is totally and utterly nonsence...
And again I will say AND LISTEN CAREFULLY NOW !!!! Yes a lot of people are into this music because of the drugs and yes a lot of artists started to make music because of drugs BUT it does NOT mean that it's every single person or artists truth and experience. Thats what i ma arguing about.... Because SpEaKa HuGgEr and Yuli makes it seem like that and therefore in my opinion generalise the "truth". I can only speak from what i have expereinced and so can you and there's many different truths out there.... like it or not!

I think that this sums up pretty good our discussion here.

I would like to see this discussion comes to end as well.
I am not one of those people who write in forums just to fight with others and I am definetly not trying to encourage drug usage over the internet.
So my FINAL post will be as follows:
I was in the trance scene before I used drugs, and I was there after.
I know what it's like to be sober at parties.
I also know what it's like to slowly discover the amount of people and artists around you who use them.
I am definetly not "the source of universe knowledge".
All I am saying is that drug usage is more commen than what most people think.
When I say 'the best artists' I mean artists that are considered to have a lot of influence on people and other artists.
I think it was a good discussion and I hope some people learned that although drugs are bad, we owe them a lot. Not everything, but a lot.

Elysium Project I’m sorry I didn't go to parties, when you did in the beginning of the 90’s. But I can tell you that at least 80 %, if not more, at the scene in Copenhagen are under the influence of some sort of drug. So I definitely wouldn’t glorify the Danish scene, at least, don’t know much about Norway or Sweden scenes. It’s actually quite hard to find even 5 persons at a party that are not under the influence in some way.
