at samothraki a friend of mine kept his stash under my tent. the next day or so he started wondering where exactly he had hidden his "things". maybe you can imagine how i felt when he found his "things" under my tent. imagine if the cops came the earlier day and discovered the "things" under my tent. sure they would have belived me if i would have told them the truth, right? if anything the drugs are killing the scene. cops have a good reason to bust parties if there's illegal stuff going on. will we see samothraki 04? doubt it!

Why do people go to parties?
As you can see, I've chosen the Australian flag.
The main Australian trance site is called Australiens.net (austr - ALIENS)
And you know why? That's because the people down there "belive" they see aliens at parties.
Sure, they are just joking. But one guy actually dresses like an alien and that's how he come to all the parties. (I can show you pics if you want)
I was there for a year, and I know what's going on down there. They use lots of strong acid.
So I really don't see why I have to explain the connection between drugs and space. Havn't you ever heard the term "To space out" on drugs?
That's why people go to parties. To have a strong trip and float in space.
I am really sick of this discussion. You have a problem with drugs and you are in a drug-related scene.

I think it's you who have a problem with drugs mate  ... maybe cutting down on the strong chemicals will make you see thing's in a different light? |

there's a guy in australia who wears alien costume at parties..
therefore drugs are related with space..
damn how could i not see this connection before..

actually people go to parties to have fun.. that's the general idea, believe it or not..
are you familiar with the term "black out" ..it's not like people turn black when they black out now is it?

People go to parties to have fun.
Most of them use drugs.
Some are being naive and think that if someone huggs them for no good reason it's because he is nice.
The thought that he is on pills will never cross their mind.
I wish I was as naive as you traveller.
Do some research and you will discover that most DJ's and producers use psychedelic on a regular basis. That's how they create YOUR music.
Your music is spawned from drugs. There is nothing you can do about it. |

I wouldn't say that the majority of trancers here do drugs at parties, then again I might be wrong. I wouldn't say that the majority of trancers at samothraki 03 were doing drugs. Obviously the cops would have caught way more people. I wouldn't call most people who are under influence of psychedelics nice, more like ummm.. wasted? When they are sober I'd call some of them quite arrogant, it's obvious that that LSD thingy has some not so nice side effects. Most producers do psychedelics at regular basis? Might very well be, then again maybe not. I doubt they do them while they create the music atleast...

Well, dude you're so wrong...
If the trance scene was based on chemicals then I'd say it's FAKE. drugs create illusions! music is the only real thing!
I am NOT AGAINST druggies or drugs at parties, all I am saying , come , take your drug, have fun, but if that's the reason you come , it makes you so ...so..unreal,fake! superfacial maybe!
ESPECIALLY if you STOP coming to parties because you quit drugs, that's even more superfacial and LAME!
I find myself sometimes without drugs dancing 7 hours without resting while the other druggies are sitting and watching me. so, drugs are not the reason to dance, trancedance and "highness" is a state of mind!
it's all in your mind, I've experienced long time meditations and awareness and found out I can get into trance TOTALLY sober .
all is state of mind my friends.
but if you BELIEVE in drugs , then have a nice time sticking to your fake religion .
People have been dancing since the dawn of time and shall dance till the end of time!
Cyberpunk: Well if I wanted to go to Las vegas, I wouldnt fly on first class and stay on 5 stars hotels, cause then I wont have any money to spend on the gambling !
so the travel to Las vegas will lose its meaning...hehe

is it me, or is it getting a bit off-topic..?
anyway, when i was going to my first parties (quite a few years ago) i was going there for the drugs, i admit it. i was not familiar with this music, it did not make a lot of sense to me, but i was going with friends, taking drugs, having fun. i "thought" i was going for a specific dj, but i ended up so high in drugs that i didn't actually listen to what each dj played, and certainly the next day i couldn't remember what music i had heard...
time was passing though and i was starting to like this music more and more, it started to make sense in my mind and i could actually enjoy it! so, for the last 4 years, i personally go to parties cos there i can listen to this music with the quality that i don't have in my home. of course, meeting friends and having fun is also important!
p.s. we all know that lsd enhances every sense and i am pretty sure everyone here has noticed that music sounds a bit "different" when on acid. so, i personally don't mind when my friends take drugs in parties. i actually love it when they come to me every once in a while and they ask "who is playing" (cos they are so "high" to focus on that).
p.s.2. i remember Joti once saying to me after a party: "learn how to use drugs, don't let drugs use you." wise words..... |

I go to parties regularly, without being high, stoned or drunk. Not because I’m against drugs, or holy, or anything. I simply can’t concentrate at school if I do drugs, or smoke too much weed. I rather enjoy these parties, without being sedated, but for a fact I can tell you that in Denmark at least 80 % of the people parting are on some kind of drug, be the drug Coke, lsd (rare in Denmark), E, pure mdma, fantasy, TCI, TCB, speed or what ever. Maybe the percent is even higher. I would say that if you categorically deny the connection of trance and drugs you must be blind in some way. And I think it’s beautiful that there are people like Elysium and anada that can be awake at 11 o’clock in the morning, without being on drugs, because I sure as hell can’t. It’s not natural to be awake so many hours in a row; I usually go home from a party at 5 o’clock, maybe a bit earlier maybe a bit later. Again from my personal experience, I have never ever seen a person dancing at anything later then 9 o’clock approx. without being on drugs. I’m not saying it’s impossible, I’m just saying it’s not normal. Trance parties, in general in Denmark start at 11, maybe 12 o’clock, in the evening, and finish at 7, 8 ,9 o’clock. Mainstream parties in Denmark normally finish at 5 or 4 o’clock. Outdoor parties in Denmark, finish at 14, 16 or LATER. Gods plan for human beings did not involve people being awake for 40 hours straight  … And my lungs kill me if I dance more the 5 min at a time. Too much weed and tooooooo many cigs.
I too think it’s fucking irritating when my “friends” (party friends), come over to me totally doped up (on too much E), and telling me how much they love me, yda yda yda. I prefer people who take mdma, or coke, much clearer in the head .

green channel, trust me, if the music was better you would have stayed until the end. the "problem" with not taking drugs is that if the music is not really good then u can't stay awake and/or dance. it happens to me often, when the music is not good i want to go to bed... but when it's really pumping then i can't just leave! |

I am sorry to tell u ppl, but many of you either very naive, or plain hypocrites.. Sorry for being blunt, but the Trance scene would never exist without drugs.
Look at the parties around you.. Are there more ppl using synthetic drugs or just the 'pure energy' kind? Be real.. I got into trance because I taken a trip ( I think it was a 'Saucer' ) in 1992 and suddenly I heard something I never thought exists, especially in this Boom Boom music. And likewise many ppl did, and still do! All the craving of those is to recreate this first time, or series of first times ( How can I forget those Strawberries I was having in Koh-Phangan 1994, or the Getafixes 2 years after? ) I must say that a long time passed since I decided that synthetic drugs are past for me, and since then I went to parties but ofcourse it is even a little bit not the same, and I even dont try to compare.
Moreover, one can easily notice, how the trend of certain drug changes and with it the music changes. In mid ninetees, the LSD was the premium drug of choice, so the music was really intensely psychedelic ( Prana, Simon, Doof, Xdream, Ubar Tmar the first Flying Rhino's etc.. ).. Afterwards the E kicked in and the time for Nizhonot from one side or the Scando Trance arrived ( end of ninetees ) and now everyone is into Coca so the Psy is almost utterly gone from the music either the Full on or the Progressive.
This happens over intervals of time in ALL genres, just Trance is a little bit more drug induced. Watch 'Umma Gumma' of Pink Floyd - don't u think they look funny / stoned like hell / tripping their heads off?
And now to the really annoying Q?
IS IT THIS BAD?
The only bad thing is that some ppl dont know the limit and pay the price and sometimes the society pays the price for them. But as long as it is dun by GROWNUPS, it is their choice and I respect it as long as they dont abuse..
