when you combine drugs that directly cause paranoid delusions, weird hypnotic beats, band called the nommos, and people naturally prone to challenging authority you get a breeding ground for ideas with no rational basis. Although many trancers are scientifically inclined just as many are spiritualists who detest the rational. Any anthropologists out there care to share some knowledge about how ideas disseminate through and shape a culture? I feel like there is some kind of positive feedback loop between conspiratorial ideas, drugs, and trance parties.

i guess this is just plain ignorance, lack of information and study, etc.
and its not exclusive of the psytrance world - its everywhere.
and btw - questioning authorities is one good thing, but sticking to shitty information you didnt even bother to check around is ignorance.

am i the only thinking that being more predisposed to conspiracy sometimes is not just because of drugs, or is necessarily a bad thing??....
i mean we joke about 9/11...but there is more than one documentary that show the opposite of what we have been told....all psy druggies wasting time.....or is there something justifiyed in assuming "strange" things....??
i mean if you read Conoliza Rice's (segretary of amercian defense) book written 2 years before 9/11 "America needs another Pearl Harbour" are we the paranoid or is everyone just plain dumb??!!
is it better just to joke about it and dont consider problems like these..(ie institutions not elected by the people that are in charge: ex: the mafia in italy, bush, chavez, castro (w la revolucion) etc.....)...
what is ignorance??.....how can we know when something is actually true when you have flows of information and studies which are often corrupted...??
im referring to conspiracy theories.....(cristian church investing for the mafia since the 60s, a special league of powerful in italy controlling the wealth.....all documented (to a certain extent) ....and not aliens or cia studying drugs and their use.....
even if LSD was first tested by the CIA on random people going to cheat on their wives in whores houses, back in the 70/80s......and this is documented...
so are we really or under the influence....or there is a world under the influence of something much worse...??
mmmm......maybe i just exagerrated with the wake n bake!!

Infact I feel the complete oppositte to what the topic says, since we are a curious bunch of retards on this planet that regular information isn´t sufficient we dig in deep to look for answers which makes us well read and well informed bunch of clowns.
I mean if bush can convince the world to wage a war against a nation that didnt really possess WMD... arent they just as stupid???
Find the topic quite fuckd up as it is a statement which aint a fact to begin with.

the belief that 'psytrancers' are more aware, more connected and basically of a higher consciousness...besides the mind altering substances .. the word says it all 'mind altering'...
besides, i guess many many do feel at some subliminal level something else other than what we see is happening.. then we assume, others back it and voila we have a theory!

^^ This
I laugh of all of you who think there is no conspiracy going on... maybe there is not only one and of course there is a lot of paranoia and disinfo but you cannot deny the fact that society is being mind controlled by goverment, media and religion mostly.
We listen and create tracks about forbidden substances, aliens, mysticism, ancient enigmas and inner self experiences... it is a necessity for us to question everything we experience, this should be what most people should do but most prefer to look other way.
Yes, most of it is because of drugs, but not all is paranoia. |

I think many trance heads like to believe or be more open to conspiracy theories cause they dont like formal science or dont understand it, much like the general public, plus the feeling of being against the stablishment.
Just watch History channel, you know why they have changed their programs so much?
Academic research isnt entertaining, conspiracies and BS are.
Edit.- The only "conspiracy" I do agree upon is that Federal Reserve is a private owned bank. And that is well documented, it just faded in to dark cause very few people put the effort in understanding how money works.

Where is the documentation that trance "heads" are more into conspiracy theories than any other Joe on this planet?
People no matter race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, income, social heritage etc. have always been into conspiracy theories. The trance community are not better or worse than any other community or individuals worldwide when it comes to believe in various realistic or wacky theories.

The problem is that the conspiracy literature is consumed by logical fallacies and disrespect for basic standards of evidence. For instance, just because one conspiracy might contain a grain of truth does not mean they all do. It is necessary to examine the specific claims of any given theory and evaluate the evidence with a rational mind. It is also important to recognize when you lack the sort of expertise necessary to make a sound evaluation of the evidence. This is often the case in conspiracy circles, particularly when the claims are based on science and engineering. Typically the experts are dismissed as being a part of the conspiracy for the simple fact that their findings do not agree with the pre-conceived world-view of the conspiracy theorist. In extreme cases, someone such as myself who casts any sort of skeptical eye on conspiracy claims will be derided as a tool of the establishment, a fool, naive, or otherwise ill-informed for believing in the "official story" (whatever that might be) even when no such statement of support is made. These discussions tend to abandon logic and reason for belief and emotion.
As for the question of whether trancers are genuinely more into conspiracy theories than most... my data is entirely anecdotal, but for what it's worth I know of few other subcultural groups with such a strong investment in conspiracy culture. It is not unreasonable to speculate that the combination of drugs, access to the Internet, anti-establishment sentiments, and countercultural attitudes greatly increases interest in conspiracy theories and the paranormal.

why? because trancers are very fashionable. and conspiracies are very fashionable as well. so it is nowadays very modern to be into conspiracy theories. this is why trancers like them these days.
besides , it takes less intelligence to read a nice small funny conspiracy theory, where someone collected a couple of persuading links for you than to do a research on the same subject alone and build your own opinion on the basis of all available facts.
and although i used to be crazy about conspiracy theories ten years ago, i now find that they are very cheap entertainment available from all sides... and they are not to be taken seriously any more. and also , in the moment something becomes a fashion rather than a serious vision, i am out anyway. and most important - if they are true, than the conspiracies we read in the mainstream, are conspiracies themselves. a circle of conspiracies anyway.
also i actually believe that the leaders of the planet do want to save it in some way. but it is just very difficult to come to a serious basis for a social and political change on the planet and leave all sides happy with a common planetary agreement....

Conspiracy exists on all levels, i would even say that humans are conspiring inside of their own minds lots of times! And seldom Reason like Basilisk say with a rational mind.
Now the question comes what is a rational mind?
And even if you have one you can easy be tricked by mainstream to abandon the rational.
And isn't it so and has always been that charismatic personalities tend to get lots of people to agree on almost anything.
And money and military campaigns has been subjects for conspiracy in all times.
So really whats to argue about here. Cant your rational minds tell you that conspiracy exists just as much as the word exist...
If you just knew what the mods are planning for us or speaking behind our backs, haha
