I was in a studio recording some of my micro styles. At the end the recording engineer who is quite in the nowadays german rap business gave me a cassette with some kind of new music named goa.
Back at home I fired up a few heads from my bong and laid back for a longer samadhi while the cassette was in tapedeck on loop mode. after 2 or 3 houres I've been to another worlds throughout the music.
Later lots of friends were active in the first goa wave of hamburg and after an illegal forest party on full mind expanding mode I felt I belong to this circle and from than I began to love all this.           https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden

I remember the first time I tripped to psy trance. It was Sandman's Witchcraft album on a PA we hired for a friends birthday. Blew my teenage mind.           Cuntus Maximus.

A friend of mine talked about a particular kind of underground music that caused him a big headache...

I told him to try to describe that music, and he was like "bum-bum-bum-fsssshh-zzzap", so I decided to give it a try, very interested

The song was Gamma Goblins by Hallucinogen btw.           Fire Walk With Me

To be perfectly honest whilst I may have been drunk & a bit stoned it was just hearing Tantrance 6 on my folks big sound system age 18. I think because I already loved the complexity of classical music & heavy metal I loved the layered complexity of psychedelic trance. Until that point mostly I'd only heard minimal techno, Dutch hardcore & acid techno. While I fo love all styles of EDM, the Goa sound still engulfs me as does the music of Makyo & Steve Roach. I get easily bored by other less complex EDM.

You may find this difficult to believe! Met this girl in the European Union in the early 90's that was doing a 2 year apprenticeship program with cross-examination sensory bombardment noise and light. The company she was doing her apprenticeship seemed as if it hid behind a bogus company under the umbrella of government/religion with the motto of redefining a ancient tribal ritual of the coming century. She was basically explaining a secret political group torture/brainwashing weapon that accidentally escaped into the public to emulate zombies which drew my interest. A cross breed of cognitive therapy and interdisciplinary field testing with sound/light she continued with but in the end, it was goa. Yep thats how I started listening to psytrance.

After hearing Hardfloor's "Acperience" on a friend's tape in 1993 I was inspired to make a dance track (I'd already been using synths and sequencers for about 6 years by then, my job at the time was writing music for computer games). Ended up releasing it on Phantasm's first ever compilation album, before I'd been to a single goatrance party or heard any actual goa trance.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Well, I left my parents and flew to India when I was 16 or was it 17? Either way, the year was 1986! I decided to go to Goa for a while and arrived in Anjuna beach beginning of December. Some friends and me were hanging out in a restaurant called Gregories, an old Konkani fellow who had decent food and some guy came in as we were sitting in a circle smoking chillum after a beautiful day at the beach... he said "hey, there is a party tonight at Anjuna beach and Laurent is playing, you guys coming?

Needless to say around 11 pm we all went there, there were a few Konkani people on coconut mats, selling chai and sweets and tuc crackers, oh and samosas, and a little further some kids had painted the coconut trees in blacklight colors and hung up a few backdrops with blacklight hindu deities and there was a small dj table with Laurent and two sony professional walkmans with which he was leading us through the night.

An old dude in blacklight color pants and shirt and a long white beard came up to me and had a contact lens solution bottle in his hand, looked at me, introduced himself as Eric and asked me to open my hand, palm down and thumb up as far as possible. in a little ditch on my hand he put a drop and said to lick it up, he wished me a good journey and said until in 8 hours or so. Suddenly the ocean came much more alive, the music became one with the whole existence, as did everyone else on this party with maybe 150 people or so, the blacklight pictures and the palms started breathing and dancing with us and it all felt so right.

Then the sun rose and the music changed, became much more positive and all of us started rising and answering to the sun. Suddenly Acid Eric was standing in front of me, looked at me and laughed and said, you don't need anymore, you are doing just fine. Slowly after some more hours of flying, the drugs effect waned and I found myself looking at a (then blue) ocean, thinking to myself that wow, how is all this even possible???

And thus started my journey into the realm of electronic music, what we back then called Acid House, and what much later was to become known as Psy or Goa Trance...

Well, I broke into my 1st party ever.
We had to walk about 1 hour in the woods, jump 3 small creeks to finally get inside the party.
It was Psysex live, back in 2001. Their 1st time in my city!! And I had mud up to my knees. lol

I guess after that wild experience, I just couldn't stop listening to it.
