Why all songs 7+ minutes

Is there something like a requirement from the labels to make all songs between 7 and 8 minutes? I don't understand why all songs (except for intros & outros) have to be that long. |

Not all, but yes most.
It because of the "trance-factor". I mean you need some time to get 'into' the song. It is evolving and you going with it.
Therefore you need some time. Sometimes you listen to a song and think "oh is it long", but on a party you dance and the track starts and zack its over.
Thats my explanation of that phänomen  !

on the contract with some lable's there is one caluse who talk's about this and he says that the track must be 6:30min or longer. |

Although its rare, I've seen some tracks with 5 minutes
But this is "trance" music....you need some time to drive you into "trance"
Ubar Tmar last album...lol...has 89 tracks the longest is 55 seconds....but thats a mad exception...
About that 6:30 requirements from the label, I think that's really silly for any label to impose such thing |

Well, naturally all my tracks are between 6:30 and 8:00

well, as mike said, when i make my song i usually don't stop at 5 mins or earlier. it streams till 7+...

yeah, me too, my tracks always have at least 7 min, but it goes with the way i structure my tracks, they either have 7 minutes or 9 minutes (if I do a special ending lol)
Actually, I think I never did a track with 8 minutes, only 7 or 9 (never had actually thought about that until now) |

i completely agree with colin,
if a track lenghts 3min but its message is transmited, the mission is accomplished.
when you are writting a track, the track itself tells you when to finish it, when to stop transmiting this message you are sending.
i think the point is somewhere around whether the track's idea has concluded, 'tranced' you or not.
i hate when some artist make a track longer by adding shitty layers, like 'sacred darkness' from lemurians for ex., thats a great 5mins track but a very awful 7min sad-ending one.
theres no need to do this guys ;D
