differences in prises berween countries depends on taxes and want
if import taxes are high so you have higher prise
if there is no want of product you have high prises because noone will send 10 hardware units at same prise as 1000 units .....
and BTW Psygodelic prises in israel seems the same as in europe not like states but like in europe where most of hardware done ... |

small countries bigger countries, israel europ... still expensive here in israel and on every place i heard..

I'd say that compared with similar technologies (personal computers, entertainment centers, etc), music hardware is a relatively small market - worldwide.

You also have to take into consideration the disposable income. In some countries the salaries are higher than others. For example average salary in UK can be up to 100 or more times higher than in some African countries |

Well, not exactly. Sure, the UK may get 100 times more money than Africa, but the UK is about 200 times more expensive to live in than Africa. Although the wage/income levels may differ from country to country (and by vast amounts sometimes), the cost of living in certain countries soaks up that extra cash REAL QUICK!
The main reason for equipment costing so much is simple. First, lots of cash is spent on research and development. Millions of £ which must be recouped from the sales. Also, it's a business, ran by rich people who want to stay rich or get richer faster.

as sector said and this is obvious anyway- bigger countries > more peoples > more power > more sales > more quantity > less the price
But in simple words, let's say you are selling pizza - if your customer will buy 8 slices separately it will cost him more then buying a tray- right?
same for anything else

also, dont forget the hardware part.,
hardware takes money and time to develop.,
that's what you're paying for as well.,
that's why software is so much cheaper., (production, distribution and sales)
also, as mentioned, music is a much smaller market than, say, consumer electronics, so there is less profit from mass production so it's more expensive.,
distribution costs can also play a part,
and a bit of elitarianism can also change the price.
people with money like to have exclusive stuff.,
they dont mind paying the exra bucks.,.,
do you realy think a SSL console is worth the money in components?., i dont think so.,
it's got a certain thing and some people want to pay so much for it that it's profitable for the company to keep the prices high and availability low.,
as said before, it's crap, but that's the world,
all this is in addition to all the other reasons above.,
