I have many difficulties to consider Chill-Out artists in a "Vertical" Way... because of the Infinite Possibilities, Influences, Feelings, Ideas, Fusions, Energies, Spoken Words, Deliriums, etc etc that set a Chill-Out track up...
Furthermore some DanceFloOrs Artists have sometimes produced a chill-out track that became a classic..... but kept it as a spontaneus delirium..
I am thinking for exemple about the Spirallianz' "the Re-Entry" one, also Bio Tonic coOler stuffs on their albums & comp (Rythm of Life on Solstice)
There are many other exemples...
But let's play... if I had to keep ONE group in my mind perhaps it would be Red Seal (with OTT joining them !!!  )

tellin' the truth I don't have particular "one" favourite any longer..
but these artists/groups are the ones who I really like..
shpongle, ott, violet vision, asura, entheogenic, sigur ros, shulman, infected mushroom, MOZART!

I like many but the chillout track that imo exactly captures what I like is Hallucinogens' 'Herb Garden'. Well constructed, setting an exelent mood, appropriate samples, nice use of analog instruments and a track with head and tail.
