anyway the only thing that really bothers me regarding mr Posford is what actually bothers me about a lot of the more "famous" psy acts, their live acts...the fact that you are a good producer doesn't necessarily mean that you're a good performer as well. Having him constantly play the same hallucinogen live act over and over and over without any improvisation is boring...give me a DJ set over that any day...and it's not like I'm asking too much...having tracks arranged differently for a live act beforehand in a studio would already be a big plus, throw in some unreleased material and get some type of midi controller or any toy to tweak on stage and you'll make me a lot happier...I'm guessing Simon figures he'll have a full dancefloor no matter what he does so he just chooses to not do anything

Funny that you say that, I am currently wondering what to do about liveset, I mean dj no problem right, but I have never done a true live act...Really need to get into that... and from what I have practised so far it is definitely something else than writing a track...

i would bounce alsmost everything to audio and let perhaps three synth in a track open in midi to twist parameters..xy kinda style maybe and got some controllers left for master or group fx..ableton got a nice feature , to bounce everything to single clips..and trigger them via midi..
if your tracks work like this u could just drop any clip after another and create new arrangeents on the fly..

here u find some useful stuff..

I like SP's old material for what it was back in the day.
I no longer consider him to be a trance producer because, well he isn't anymore is he?
It seems there's a mass movement of people who worship SP as the greatest psy producer of all time and although he was very, very good. I think theres much, much better stuff around today.
I much prefer his shpongle and younger brother stuff anyway. |

i have to agree about his hallucinogen set (altho he does play 1 or 2 new tracks ) - he was and still is a genius and created some of the most psychedelic tracks ever be it hallucinogen shpongle or anything else - but his set is too repetetive (heard him 4 times this year...), but when he combines it with a shpongle set it really is incredible and highly psychedelic - a great voyage |

never understood what the hype was all about to be honest! its cool to say you like hallucinogen and sphongle and the likes .. kind of like a virus which spreads that you cannot control and you do not know how it started to begin with. according to me.... sorry but... grossly overrated

Honestly, speaking...when simon is playing alone I really dont find him that talented...but with shpongle he does create a magic...a true bliss..
man has talent bt same repeated stuff and there is something about his beat which I jst dnt like...
His old albums were too awesome but where is the new stuff, i jst dont c any new albums which is worth appreciating, just my opinion...still a forum right...
overall...too hyped for sure..
talented...he knws his hardware..knws his frequency...n knw which button can mould it the way he wants...talented for sure...but i feel he needs to hit the mainstream.....i dont mean he should commercialise himself..but rather make the crowd feel his presence....by a kick ass album..
