sometimes it s just some noise filtered ,you can try to add reverb and do a reverse on it ,or with a sound with short attack long realese and sometimes it s just a slow pitched sound with a lfo |

They're back....
As for shepard's tone - kinda pointless when all i recon etnarama is looking for is a rising linear pitch bend sound. Not the percieved illusion of a constantly rising tone...
Anyway: use something like a sawtooth with some white noise filtered as you want (for the whistle) and then set an LFO to pitch bend it up...
Or bounce a single note to audio and pitch bend it up using the "envelope" part of pitch-shift process.
Or use some mad random samples and pitch bend them for abit of fun...
