How can i do that whistling sound very common in tracks from ABSOLUM, CPU, RINKADINK.
Its sounds like a whistle going up and up and up helping the track in the same way as a reversed cymbal/hat but the sound is more high pitch..... its not a reversed cymbal/hat i think.......
Do you now which sound im saying? |

There have already been some "tutorials" posted about this matter. I'm afraid though that I am either too lazy or too stressed to use the search, but there are threads out there explaining the tricks around what you're looking for I believe...

Try setting an Lfo modulator set to the lowest freq patched to the oscilator freq?Maybe this is the sound your trying get, if the pich is changing too fast maybe try syncing the lfo rate to the number of bars or something, hope this helps |

etnarama: That was indeed what I was trying to tell you about.
If you're lucky, perhaps someone else have the energy to find it for you...

Generaly speaking, whistling is the closest sound to a sine wave, a human can make.
I am not into the music of the artists you suggested and haven't heard their tunes, but from what I understood, try using a single sine wave oscillator. Set your desired portamento time and play the low note you want to start from and the high note you want to end at in a smooth ascending manner.

I think u are revering to a thing called "shepards tone'...
It's a tone that "seems" to go up and up and up...and seems to never stop doing that...in reality it's just a sweep from low to high that's mixed in itself again and again.....
Try the mda-plug called "sheppards tone"...i think that's what u mean... |

Shepherds Tone I mean...if u listen carefully u can hear it starting over and over...but the brain perceives it as an endless ongoing tone upwards (or downwards).... |

Blixem you are the man..........
I think they use i presume only one component, one "blip" that just goes up and up
So the mda plugin can do that???? How??
I have it in my other pc, but at the moment is not very well......
another question how can i reproduce it with a synth ? or its better to have a sample of (dont know what) and sweep from low to high again and again..
nolightatend i did try to listen the freqs.......but.... it gives the ilusion of going up scales.... very nice webpage....thank you |

this is probably what your talking bout - i refer to them fondly as 'sirens' or 'risers', but they have been so overused in their standard form would definitely be a crime to replicate it. use this as your starting point, but do something different with it.
just use any oscillator, and have its pitched controlled by an envelope that has attack set to almost full. you can add all sorts of fx on this, and i like to add an LFO on the cutoff, with its speed increasing as the pitch goes up.
Albino's matrix is nice and simple for getting started with this.
goodluck! |
