An update. I narrowed the interference to my monitor (screen). When plugged in, it whines. When unplugged, it's totally clean.
I plugged the monitor into a separate power point and while that's reduced the whine quite a bit, it's not totally gone.
PC specs: Q6600 2.4ghz, 4GB ram and Windows XP SP2

Perhaps slightly off-topic, but did you know that Win XP only uses a maximum of 3 GB of RAM? So if you have 4 in your PC then 1 GB is never being used.

As far as I know, Vista can utilize more than three gigs of ram. At least, that is what I was told. I haven't owned a Vista PC yet (clinging onto XP for dear life lol) but a few people who know more about PCs than me said that, so I'm relying on them, hehe
Perhaps I'm wrong, though. Anyone have a link I could read about that?
