hi!
I have a problem, I recently switched from reason to ableton, which is great, but only to find out that my computer isn't fast enough & after I have about 15 channels in use, ableton will either crash or it will be just so damn slow that I can never get a track finished with it. very frustrating!
so now im thinking that I should go back to reason, atleast until I get a new computer.
other alternatives..
is fruityloops any easier on the cpu than ableton?
I will propably have the same problem with any software using vst's, right?
cubase is propably out of the question..
thanksalot & peace! |

for the topic
FL can be huge cpu saver
specialy using its native instruments and fx
as well "smart disable" function

neh
we tried couple of years back
FL Studio 6 Vs Cubase sx 2
same Vsti
same patterns
same vst effects
the test done twice with diffrent plugins , second and third try with some audio files as well
FL studio cpu - 70% / 65% / 60%
Cubase sx cpu - 30% / 25% / 25%
offcourse "smart disable" or "freeze" change the cpu picture , but those are my facts. should try FL 7 vs SX 4 tho...

tsabi we did the same test with fl7 and cubase sx 3 with same plugs and fx and the same audio clips.
cubase had a steady 15/20% more cpu usage than fl.
info: both apps where original and up to date!
for me flstudio always worked better and more stable than cubase!

to me a really decent vst synth that is very light on CPU is Albino 3. has been my go to for awhile.. on SX3 runs very fine and im also using an old laptop.
if ure using a not so uptodate pc i recommend using
TinyXP with Cubase SX3 and a couple good vsts like albino, cronox, discovery and vanguard are very light too.. should be fast enough if u dont clutter it with unnecesary apps
