waddayamean no 24-bit support? I use 24-bit audio clips all the time in fl, aswell as 32-bit ones..
About mixing and mastering fruity is actually very nice, if you know what you are doing.. only annoying thing is the graphics - itty-bitty-mixer, and ofcourse that fl isnt quite made for four-channel or surround audio. and yes, i work in fl.

FL downconverts everything to 16 bit when reading the samples from disk. Suck. The developers of FL confirmed this for me. He plans to fix it, eventually. |

Load sample to FL Producer, export it and substract from original. Normalize subsctracted signal and if you lucky you'll get dc offset as well as noise.
Why there is not explainantion in help file? You must be kidding.
Why there is no discussion about it online?
Maybe because FL Producer users don't know nothing about sound quality. |

Gol, the developer, told me on their looptalk forum. It's really very minor, but it is true. |

Then 8bits Cubase's output sound way cleaner than 16bit FL Producer's.
Krumelur
There is no need to use 24bit samples in FL Producer, it can load but can't process. |

this applies to audio tracks aswell as "samples" in fl?
doesnt make much sense since fl is running in 32-bit internal.. but if u got it straight from the source...

Sadly, yes. He does plan to fix it, but it seems to be low priority. Like I said - it really is a minor issue. |

@thockin
Be honest please, are you by any chance employed by image line?
You keep repeating that it is a minor issue. That would not be offensive to me if you just put a little IMHO next to the statement.
Fact is that most producers knowledgable about digital audio would strongly disagree whith that it is such a minor issue.
And whats worse, Image Line does not officially acknowledge the fact in any documentation.
What are they trying to hide by not explaining to people that the software actually does not support 24bit if it is not an issue?
For me what they are doing is ripp-off and false marketing.
Sound forge is nice in the way that when you try to save a 24bit file as 16 bit, and tell the user that truncating the sound own to 16 bit will corrupt the sound?
Why not give the user a message that "you 24 bit file is only wasting harddisk space and we will dither it down to 16 bit for you wich will corrupt the sound".
You can't seriously be saying that dithering all your 24 bit tracks down to 16 bit will not affect the sound.
The figures H2O has been mentioning about the dynamic range in the fl mixer is quite shocking, worse than even I could imagine.
Minor issue...hmmm.
No disrespect to you krumelur, from my experience I have always claimed that the problems with fl only becomes obvious when layering many tracks, so for minimal music it might not be more than a minor issue.
Still it would piss me of to be lead to belive that I am using 24 bit files when the software is secrely dithering it all down to 16 bit.

I think it isn't true. If the developer says me that fl truncates 24 bit files, ok then i believe.
Peace
