It will be used mainly for djing (Traktor Scratch) and (eventually) producing.
Any suggestions will be appreciated
PS. I'm used to 15" and 17" notebooks so 13" PowerBook is not quite appealing to me (yet)

im not sure Traktor Scratch would run on a powerbook.
You should get a macbook or macbook pro if your'e going apple since traktor requires an intel based processor
Cheers

i have a 13" macbook with some 4 gig ram running traktor scratch pro very smooth at 2.5 ms latency
Im going for a pro when i have trashed this one
I was also used with 15" but the change to 13" wasn't a problem at all since i mainly run 2 decks. 15" or 17" is a must if you want 4 decks

In addition to lots of RAM, look for something with a high front-side bus. That's very important for producing as you'll need a wide enough "highway" to traffick all that data around your computer. As many USB jacks as possible is also a big plus, but you can get PCIe cards for that as a workaround. Also, if you can, look for a laptop with a 7200 rpm hard drive. Most laptops have 5400 and this doesn't quite cut it for most complicated production tracks/live sets which is why you always see live acts using external hard drives.
DJing requires less but if you aim to start producing eventually you might as well buy for that goal while you're at it.

I'd go the 15" MAcbook Pro... the 13" ones still only use the Intel Core 2 Duo whereas the 15" use the Intel Core i5 n' the 17" uses the i7... the come standard with 4 gig of RAM but for a price you can upgrade to 8 gig or more... info @ http://www.apple.com/au/macbookpro/
I was thinking of just the 13" inch but when I saw the latest specs might go the 15" as it's long term usability is better...
when my house is finished mid 2011 will then look at getting a desktop upgrade as well

they all come with DD3 RAM... it's super expensive to buy an Apple 1TB disc in the lappy... just cheaper and functional to get an external one then use the internal for the stuff you need to take with you... has worked for me for the last 3 years with lappies
