well, both vsti´s are great thats for sure.
camel has nice voice modulation and automation possibilities. however it lacks a superior sound quality in my eyes... good for complex and different sounds, for experimentation, not so much for sound quality improvements for your tracks.
trilian is straight forward for absolutely phat baselines.. you get them round, deep and warm/analogue sounding.. trilogy is still better for very short percussive 16th basses though..
so choose between better sound quality or more weird sounds, what do you think your production is missing more

well, you compare to totally different products. so its the personal need that makes the decision for you?
i did elaborate a bit on the products and their respective usage.
i would say: like your baselines? -> get alchemy
feel your baselines need more mojo? -> get trilian
personally after buying both i would buy trilian because i am a sound aesthetic freak.

if alchemy have good filters ,envelops,it could maybe replace trilian with some good sample loaded, now if the filters/envelops are not that great i see alchemy as a tool for sound design, depends what you need. |

@ Klippel, you have actually given me the answer that I know, absolutely true, but I would like to hear your choice, my basslines are good, especially since I use Alien 303, yes I am a precision freak as well, like you. On the other hand the camel beast has crazy sound possibilities, but like you I find it lacks overall sound quality, something which trillian likely does not lack. Thus at the moment I am leaning towards trillian.

been playing with Alchemy for an hour or so last night and an hour or so today - pretty sweet, very intuitive modulation, shit-tons of filters. Lots of psy potential here for sure...

LOL...Well cost is relevant unless your a thief.
For the cost of Trillian you could get an Mbox with Protool 8LE and a whole host of synths and plugins. |

I think Camel Audio Alchemy has a perfect user interface and workflow, but one instance takes like 120MB of memory why I practically dumped this synth. A lot of artist have recommended this, I think.
Trilogy / Trillian is only for basses AFAIK, and it is ROMpler, not a synth, but it has very good sample quality.
It is difficult to recommend anything without more info.

IDK why people are complaining about the memory of alchemy...I was running 7 instances of it last night in a project and I didn't get any warnings about memory (like I do if I use 2-3 instances of Omnisphere, for example) and its very light on CPU. I don't have a super system either, 4g of ram..
im curious about the comment that 'trilogy is still better for short 16th note basses' - isn't trillian just trilogy +more samples and an upgraded interface? shouldn't it have the same samples as trilogy?
