Full-on started as an off-shoot of psytrance, with Tim Schuldt, Psychopod and the first GMS album paving the way. Electro influences we can hear in some Psysex stuff, and most definately in the last X-Dream album, ambient - that's Shpongle's first album, industrial - Tim Schuldt, DnB was done by Andie Guthrie and Nick Taylor, less as Prana but more on other projects (Snake Thing, Nick Taylor's solo act has some great examples of this done right), I won't even start on Disco influenced music (been there at least as early as ManMadeMan in '96 probably earlier), I won't even start with folk music, Indian music or Spanish guitars, they're all there.

The entire electronic music world is a mish-mash of a zillion musical influences and production techniques, and all this is irrelevant to whether or not it's good music. Or innovative for that matter.

punk of course
and industrial
and jungle
and triphop/ bigbeatz
and, as some mentioned before, classical
electro
worldmusic/ asian breakz
and indian raga
and arabic music of course

everything that is intense, serious, mind altering, deeply emotional

(and nothing that is shallow, easygoing/ fluffy, superficial, mainstreamy...)

i know what you mean and respect it, but i personally do not agree at all.
psychedelic means "mind/ psyche reveals itself".
and, sorry, this cannot be "easy" or "not too serious".
i also like not being too serious and joking around, but therefore i watch stand-up comedy or sth like that.
goa/ psychedelic music definitely IS SERIOUS.
it´s not just entertainment/ fun etc.
if i want entertainment, i use the institutions which supply entertainment.
no use to make everything entertainment or easy fun.
otherwise everything becomes a market/ fetish/ consumption/ product...
if we don´t insist on that, the mainstream comes in, because this seriosity you´re talking about is a kind of "shield" against pop, sell-out and superficiality.
just some thoughts.
peace
