What CPU do you have? The reason you get alerts is because the monitoring application of the motherboard that reads the temp of the cpu, mobo etc. has the threshold for the cpu temp set at 55 degrees.

In my mobo the threshold was set to 59 degrees, and even in the hottest summer month where it was like 30-32 degrees inside the room i was getting a temp of 58 degrees, and working without problem.

The normal temp starts from around 50 degrees, and 55 is definately not worrying. Change the settings so you don't get the alerts. Anyway, if your cpu is really overheated your pc will shut down automatically to prevent your cpu from being fried.

depends on the CPU/mobo configuration

My computer CPU tmp was 105 degree C, cos my fan was blocked with dust and my computer kept fucking out....duh

installed a coolmaster which looks like a fan from star wars...

now my cpu runs between 60 - 70 degrees with no problems

threshhold for normal op is 75 i think...but it depends on the processor...go to your processor website and check their recommeneded temp.

normal system temp should be around 35 degrees or there abouts

60-70 is not going to burn it , but the preformance in 30 degrees is much better.. if you cool it to -100 degrees it works double fast its true , tested with liquid nitrogen

ohh , and clean the dust !          www.sattelbattle.com

yes, i ve set the threshold to 50 for cpu and a lil less for mb..i guess i ll change the settings!
thing is with my previous celeron 2.93 overclocked i got temps around 45-48 max!
now i got a dualcore pentium 3.4 and it heats more without overclockin!

anyway,as i understood theres nothing to worry about.

thanks for your responses!
take care

temperatures around 50-55c in full load are more than fine! but if u have this temp when idle u should consider checking if ur cpu has thermal paste between the cooler! or if the cpu fan is working allright!

best to check your manufacturers website...

i run at average 65 degrees celsius, 3 GHz p4 on a MSI mobo, with a fucking large Coolmaster Cpu fan and my computer is very happy....

over 70 and i think thats where problems begin....but then again i ran my computer at 100-105 for a month, but it shut down every time i did anything extensive, so it shows that my processor couldhandle 100 degrees celsius without frying, however i have prolly lost a few years on its life....
