HI, I'm looking to upgrade my soundcard, and have been looking at some firewire options around the 800usd mark, specifically;
Echo audiofire 8
Mackie 400f
and a few other cards aound the price range, maybe motu traveller(?)...
I was wondering if anyone had some good/bad experiences with any of these cards and could point me in a direction...

I think you should look into the RME interfaces, i hear nothing but good reactions on those cards. And with your budget you can easily get one. Try the search and find some topics on this manufacturer!

Thanks for the tip.... but I can't seem to find any prices for fireface800 anywhere near my budget! (600-800usd)
The cheapest price I could find for this card was 1500$!
I would love one of these cards but the price was the reason I was looking at the Echo and the Mackie...
If you've got a better deal on the RME let me know please.
I would still love any feedback on these two soundcards
Thanks

If i had that kind of budget i'd take a look at some RME products.

The Hammerfall series...that's all i have to say.

Thanks, the hercules has some impressive stats for such a cheap card!!!

Hammerfall series would be nice too, but not firewire...

I bought the hercules and it is a beast. installed it today and was easy as balls. this card goes for $399 now but it is a $899 card that has been marked down.
