Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the past help.
Can somebody recommend a good Compressor for my needs, explained in the Title of this Thread? I got some working stuff but I was asking myself if there is any better outthere!

Greetings

Anny compressor works fine, but the sidechain compressor is always a good thing to have on your bassline, I love de SSL compressor from waves too.!!

Some forest/dark dont use sidechain compressors. Instead you use a very short kick which wont interfer with the base.
Something to consider.           .

I don't normally find I need a compressor on synth basses, do it all with the ADSR and VCA/VCF.

Having said that, Klanghelm DC1A has just been updated and maybe worth a try, it's free:

the question is: is it worth the download if you not record and ue most sytnhetic sounds, and if you have a few other compressors..
seriously, this would be interesting to explain why it is good or not. I also think that you dont need more than a few copressors for electronic music.           https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden

i do ALL my mastering with just one (well, a pair...) actually, maybe one in a hundred projects ends up all in the box, and then i may use another.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

I think of sidechain as a creative effect more then a timming correction tool. So it's not exactly the same thing if you manage to get your envelope settings right, you must wheather you use it or not!

I think sidechain is very important in dance music! As it provides this kind of breathing and pumping effect if you set it up right.

I think gentle settings work best, since you're creating the material or at least checking that everything's under control, 3dB of gain reduction in groups and sidechain seems like a good value to have in mind.

I also like the SSL comp to use in groups of tracks, then the API 2500 (also from waves) has a special sound to it. C4 or C6 compressor, C1 and Rcomp.

Next in line would be:

this one is a total banger of a compressor!

Voxengo stuff is cool to! URS also!
