i would add LSG to this list. Oliver Lieb is a mastermind. just check out the tracks "Sweet Gravity 1&2" on the album Rendezvous In Outer Space. Orbital also ranks right up there.
a good example of Infected's skills is the end of "Psycho live mix" where they have like 4 melodies going at once. being well schooled in music gives them a huge advantage over most trance artists. |

Well since the question doesn't specify genre, I'd have to go with Brian Ferneyhough and Iannis Xenakis. They write (wrote) rather complicated music. |

I would agree with Simon Posford and KoxBox/Psychopod/Saiko Pod being right at the top of the production and musical skills list.
Son Kite have immaculate production but their music isn't as complex. Double Dragon has a very clean sound with complex beats.
The Infected Crew have always add that clean sound with all the nice little micro edits but the music isn't very layered. Still cool though.
HuxFlux's music can be very complex but it isn't as clean as it could be. Still, I love it.
I was very impressed with the Phaser album by Biodegradable. Interesting beats with nice melodies to flesh out the sound.
On the chill side of things, OTT does a great job. There are probably many excellent chill producers but I don't listen to much music below 140 BPM.
There are also some new talents on the scene giving us some excellent sounds. Sub6 and Scorb come to mind.
Actually, there are so many names to mention that I will stop right now.

Older Double Dragon stuff is really complex... wish he'd go back to making that kind of music again
Also, Penta's music is rich and multi-layered.
Complexity is an elusive concept, though... for example, is Zen Buddhism complex?? Yes, and no...
