Where to go in SF for trance?

Why in the world would anybody lock my previous thread?

That was totally unfair.

Asking who is the trance capital of US should not arouse very much anger. This is laughable.

Anyways, San Franciso DOES NOT have an exciting uplifting trance scene. PERIOD. It's mainly about progressive house there. Is that a surprise to you? Been there. Done that. To think otherwise is tricking yourself into believing something that is not true.

I do wish that all trance scenes continue to grow in the US. I wish them all the best as I do everyone. You really misunderstood my thread. It wasn't to criticize but to talk about the size of the scenes in the US even if it did seem critical.

I reckon it comes down to Miami. I just wanted to know who'd agree/disagree.

My question was not relative to competition. It was simply about who has the BIGGEST trance scene in North America. I wish the best for all trance scenes in US to prosper.

The rude comments were not warranted.

Cheers to everyone.

1. uh, maybe because this was your first post on the board ever, and it seems as though you did not take the time to read any previous posts or get a feel for the topics and discussions here on the forum. basic online etiqutte!

2. because you proceeded to disparage scenes which you clearly know nothing about. If you had read any other postings you wouldn't be so quick to dismiss SF. And to do it again!

3. Because as Aeon said, the whole question about what the capital is is kind of retarded and no one seems to care but you.

4. Because while we are having this futile discussion, there is a wicked dark psytrance party going on in No Cal called Mindshare II. If you had done any research maybe you would be there partying instead of posting ignorant comments. Also maybe the moderators, like me, are POed that we are not at said wicked party but rather having said futile discussion with you.

I never been on a forum where people get that angry over such a silly question. America's trance scene sucks. PERIOD. That doesn't mean that all the parties are of poor quality. I hit a nerve with someone when I mentioned that San Francisco's uplifting trance scene is awful. I've been to MANY a party in US and never thought the West Coast could keep up to other cities in the US in trance music, let alone the world. That doesn't mean I don't want the West Coast to improve and to unify with the rest of the world as trance music fans.

What a shame that such a silly, but honest question could arouse so much offense.

I'm sorry. Psychadelic trance is not my scene. I appreciate it, but I was referring to euphoric female vocal trance, which is a very European sound. I should have been clearer about what genres of trance I was discussing. I was a bit harsh because I've been living in Europe for years and then when I go to big US cities, the trance scenes are just not comparable. I'm been very disappointed with the NYC scene, and the West Coast doesn't really even have a scene in eurphoric trance. I WISH they did. I'd tell the whole world about it if they did. An occassional big name DJ doesn't cut it with me.

I wish you would have gone to that psychadelic trance party!!!!! LOL

Cheer up bro' as there is no reason to have such hard feelings toward someone who made their first post on this forum about which city has the biggest trance scene? Etiquette is something that you also need to consider. I'm not even mad at you, but rather comically irritated

Take care and i hope you get to a party soon

Do you like euphoric vocal trance?

No. When you say "Trance" on this board, you are speaking about psytrance. If you want to talk about another type of trance, you should probably find another forum.

i don't mind the ignorance so much as the arrogance of your statements. by posting things like

Quote:
America's trance scene sucks. PERIOD.

on a message board frequented by people who love trance and work hard to create a positive, active scene in the US, you will clearly receive the full wrath of the community.

BTW, I am a girl.

And SF used to have a very very large Euphoric Trance scene a few years back... Ever heard of Mars and Mystere and the whole Cybertrance subgenre?? Those guys are from SF and still do their thing... IF you are really in search for that style of trance, you should pop your head into the record store Reverb and ask the guys workin the counter. However, keep in mind that the whole euphoric trance thing died with most of the massives that happened in SF... A lot of the listeners got converted to the Astrix sound a year or so ago.... I would also suggest looking for the bay raves forum, those parties that are posted should have exactly what you are looking for, and will be able to refute your claim that the SF melodic trance scene sucks...

Sorry you came to the wrong forum with your assumptions, but if you pay a little attention to the intention of this forum, it's pretty evident that this is a predominantly psychedelic trance forum. I hope you find what you are seeking and maybe these events will change your opinion of the US scene as a whole.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

I'm sorry to have invaded your forum. I was wrong by not browsing before posting. This is mainly a forum for psychadelic trance fans. I like psychadelic trance. It's awesome, but I am not very familiar with it. I said it wasn't my scene. I said that out of ignorance. Believe me-- I would not have any problem going to psy-trance party.

On the West Coast, they've got their own style of trance, which is to be commended. I want that euphoric trance sound that is so common in Europe. In the US, it is difficult to find it.
I wish it weren't the case. You say it is not difficult to find, but I say it is. Even in NYC, euphoric trance parties are unpopular. In the US, most of the dance music played in clubs falls into the categories of house/drum n' bass/progressive house/tribal house. Tribal house is huge in NYC. On the West Coast, the dance music is more psy-trance inspired/progressive house...sounds that I do appreciate coming from SF. But, in way of euphoric trance in the US, there is just not much happening. I have not visited Miami's scene, which is said to have the largest following of electronic music in general in North America (particularly euphoric trance). Is that true? I don't know.

I want the electronic music scene, inclusive of all its genres to thrive in the US. My comments were out of anger because of the lack in popularity of the trance music that moves me. I hope your psy-trance scene kicks ass in SF and everywhere.

Yes, I know they are small euphoric trance scenes in some of US cities, but the atmosphere/quality music needs to be greatly improved. I've been to many dance parties in US. I SUPPORT ALL these small scenes. I just want radical change, and that is not going to happen anytime soon.

If only euphoric trance could take flight in the US... and all genres of electronica. Yes, I wish the best for the psy-trance genre as well.

Take care to all

I take when you mean Uphoric trance you mean the likes of PVD, Mario Picotto, Gouryella, Blank and Jones, Art of Noise etc etc.....

If so, you missed the time of that music's popualrity in the US by about 6/7 years.
