My friend is going to Kyoto soon,
I suspect that prices for used audio equipment can be lower there than in Russia.
Can anyone give me contacts of a shop with used synths, or maybe contacts of somebody in Kyoto that could help with it? Thanks.

hmm... Kyoto... not really a mecca for synth freaks if you know what I mean.. a side from your standard chain-store, and guitar shops you'll probably have better luck in Osaka (only about an hour train away)
here is a link for my best bet in Kyoto Key Music, although I am not sure if they carry used gear (my guess is not..)
http://www.musicland.co.jp/store/kyoto/
then there is this store in Osaka which looks promissing:

That being said, Tokyo is the mecca with scores of used gear shops - Sofmap Creators Land, Zero-G (maniac analog synth shop) and Laox in Akihabara.
Lots of stuff on Yahoo Auctions, and also through the Digimart site (link above)
if you need more help, or have a question , feel free to PM me

ktoto might be hard to find stuff, osaka you will definatly though. I was in osaka and saw a mini korg van parked, silver all over with korg logo on the side...try seeing that in any other country! The japanese love their synths thats for sure. good luck with the hunting. |

It's been several years since I lived in Kyoto, but there isn't much there. Your friend is much better off taking the train over to Osaka and checking out the area near Amerikamura and such where they have the Kansai's version of Akihabara in Tokyo. Softmap and such had good solid branchs there and I used to get some good deals there. By train its only a 25 minute or so ride from Kyoto depending on the train and much better shopping.
