Where's your inspiration

Ok music writing or sound production is a creative process, and as with any creative process, one needs inspiration...
We always have some days better than others, some times in our lifes where things flow in a much smoother way than in others...
Well...my point here is...where do you get your inspiration in the low times? Can you write music all the time, or only when you feel really inspired?
And what kind of things you do to help you get the inspiration you need?
Well, I tend to listen to some tracks b4 sitting in front of the computer,
also going out to do something interesting always helps to boost the inspiration,
and breaking the routine sometimes and going somewhere diferent (travel) is always an energie recovery experience:)
So, what about you?What boosts you inspiration?

I don't do anything
either I have inspiration or I don't - best is not try to make it come by force.

lemme tell u music is a combination of the mind and the heart ...
the mind has to make it , but first the heart has to feel it ....
so only make music when u feel like making ....
never force ur self .....
if u cant get a lead line in ur mind , just relax . watch some movie , play games , hump girlfriends ..
thts wat i do all da time ....
i never make music 4 more than 3 hrs a day ....
rest time i just play and chill out .....
see then how ur creative juices flow ..... |

GTN dude! dont give him advices that will turn him average!
creativity is something you can develop. lets say your working on psy-trance, and you got one of this days with no creation, than work on something really different like chill or dub or whatever. you can make yourself rules to create the track by.
most important thing is to work nonstop! If you can`t create something new , work to improve old tracks mixes. listen to old tunes of yours and make remixes. sample from CD that you love and use it in your track. get used to work daily, by that you can achive even 7-10 hours of working!

My Mind stimultions:
* listen to old inspiring album (Genesis, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Orbital, Future Sound of london, Underworld, King Crimson)
* change something in my room/life. re-arange my room/studio, light candels.
* talking with an artist friend(s) .
* smoke or drink.
* read book (or comic book)

My problem with inspiration is that my fingers tend to go to the same keys all the time. The way I found to remedy this is learn how to play some classical piano tunes. Now my fingers are going to places they' ve never been before. (I mean on my keyboard) |

I can just underline what GTN said.
If you don't feel like music you will only make crap.
Only to add: if i have ideas and feel like music I easily work 10 to 20 hours.
I 100%ly disagree with billy ambulance.. I think what he sais is the recipe for brilliant technical skills but on the other hand, not wanting to attack him, a lot of halfhearted, constructed music.
Never let your own music become an ordinary daylife. Always keep it something special. Your own music is a gift.
If you produce for others this is different, then you can do as billy ambulance sais.
But your own music can be your deepest soul, you holy self, all your feelings which will hopefully never be abused for money or something.
Always wait till the inspiration comes. This makes a true musican.
You can force yourself for a lot of music, but this will never be genuine, wonderful artwork. Every time you force yourself to music it will become bader. You can compensate it with technical skills, but then you are there where psytrance is tody: A lot of souless, formulaic, uncreative music.
Ask yourself this questions:
Why do you make your music?
Why do you want to make a lot of music?
Why don't you want to wait till the music comes?
If you want to be successful with it and the reason why you want to do a lot of music is to sell it and make money:
Man there is no help for you, why don't you sell your soul directly to the devil.
If you want to make your live more interesting and the music should be the substiute for not having a boring unhappy live:
You should find other sources in your live. Don't abuse the music.
If you want to make your music to express your self:
Man then you are on the right track, but then you will love to wait for inspiration because you only can express yourself if you have something to express.
There is a little hint to make it flow a bit more:
Input -> you -> output
the more different the inputs the more different the outputs.
Or: The music you make will be a mixture of all music you listen covered with your personality. if you only listen to shit music, your music will be shit.
The experiences, the feelings you have in your live, will be what you express. So if nothing happens in your life: No true music.

Your aim of the music never should be success or money or travelling.
But this does not mean that you don't have the right to take the success if it comes.
It just MUSTN'T be the AIM.

If I dont have inspiration I play around... I might create new sounds or do some sample work ect ect. or do some other kind of music... And before you know it I am right back deep inside the music again.
And some days I stay away from the music and just enjoy the silence  |

MAN! I want to become the greatest producer ever! Im learning how to produce diferent styles & vibes. sure the inspiration doesn`t come day by day but its something you can stimulate (active) and you dont need to wait for (passive).
dont wanna start an argue but I think a true artist should write something new every day/week. In the end of the year he stayed with 8-12 "cream of the crop" tunes!

I gotta agree with EP here, sometimes I'm totally inspiration-less, so I just play random keys on my yamaha, and if I find something catchy - I write it down, and then insipiration comes by itself

how do you get inspired by something : like u see a beatutifull scene : or a flower or an angel or an army of ants! : how does anything inspire us.
well i asked the same question to a lot of people and the most intelleget answer i got was:
to get inspired by something is to see that thing as if you are seeing it for the first time ever in your life : like a child see's the world for the first time : you see the setting sun everyday : but to see it like u'r seeing it for the first time will give you the correct picture : it will show you how the setting sun iz actually supposed to look and "feel".well inspiration has been a problem for me:i'm a sloth and dont like to work that often:but i found out one thing for sure : if u want it only u can make it happen : and dont wait for it to happen : make it happen.

where it takes u i dont think anyone have a certain things that after he hears i is making great music people think that inspiration is u listen to infected next traack youll do be in infected level i think inspiration is a subconciuness ("tat muda") term that we realize what he did after the procces of making music
