sometimes the stars are so near that you can reach them with the top of your finger. you can hold a star in your hands and put it directly on your heart. and still, most people would not do it . they would just not see the star. or pretend there was no star. they would keep saying that nobody can reach the stars. then, after some time, they would just walk further and further away from the star. and never reach it. they would not believe that there was a star to touch. not even realize they had the chance.
and the stars were so near. if they just spread the hand to touch them.

Beautiful Tina, I totally agree.

It's great when people wake up from la-la land and realise there is no difference between here and there. Then the fun REALLY begins.           www.youtube.com/trancevisuals

you are as young as the last time you changed your ideas.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

Still riding the lightning, I haven't been to la la land for quite some time but I still enjoy spending time in here bashing music everyone else seem to enjoy. I wouldn't say I am bitter about it, just realistic (spoken by a true pessimist).

What confuses me on the other hand is how we went from adventurous thrillseekers looking for a good time filled with self improvements (the so called la la land) to death, despair and suffering worshippers mixed up with complete atonality and banality and a shot of meth to a soundtrack not below the 180bpm mark. (Oh no he didn't bring up the tempo again oh no)

No wonder we attract disillusioned teenagers with a taste for anarchy and thoughts of misanthropic nature. There is no la la land in the zerotonine free neighbourhood of the contemporary GAGA'ism generation.

Same goes for me. I guess the new trance generation has changed quite a bit. As far as the tempo is concerned, once it was 80bpm max! Nowadays 160 seems to be too slow for many. To be honest, I have not been to a party in quite sometime... and with so many different genres there ought to be something out there I like, we will see in 2011!           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

nice one.
but i would see it exactly the opposite way. we did not attract them. they attracted us.

and we were nice enough, exactly like good old parents , to follow their trip and see what they have to say (the youth).
after all, the elders of our elders did teach psychedelic anarchy too - remember pioneer terrence mckenna and "claim psychedelic anarchy"? we just failed to transfer these values to the youth. we gave them too much freedom where we actually should have said "no kids , or simply, be quiet and let the elders speak". in every society, i believe, this is the right thing to say.

after that, we decided that it is not our job either and we went away. i am saying we, actually i want to say you. because i am still trying. most of the people in my tv are above 50, at least 40. only my best friends (girls, 30) are some exceptions for true psychedelic warriors and come to word.

and it still does not work. it just doesnt. i tell you, the youth of today has no psychedelic values.( or lets put it another way, the psychedelic youth is not in the trance scene). they would kick us in the ass like old grandmas and continue with the shot metioned above. they did it even. worst of all, they did it together with the so called elders, who are OBSESSED with the idea that it is most important to attract more and more trancers and kick the old ones away.

whatever.

and the shot of meth - when was the last time you saw a true psychedelic elder doing this. i never did.

Funny how rants about youngsters have not changed in the last 2-3 thousands of years.

this thread is fail. Full of cynicism and pessimism for no reason (with the notable exception of shahar's post - great stuff ). There is great music being released, there are great parties, there are great people.

No psychedelic youth? Fuck off. You don't know everyone in the world, so don't speak as if you do - it is ignorant. I know plenty of young people (18-20, very new to the scene) who are very psychedelicaly minded, just as I know a lot of older people who are not...and vice versa. This is not a black and white issue, no matter how much you want it to be in order to justify your senseless bitchfests.

The scene is not perfect, but it never was. If you want to be a true 'elder' be a positive joyful force to remind people what trance is about - happy communities dancing!            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

as you get older cynicism and pessimism settles in and you begin to enjoy it..its a part of aging process..babies cannot distinguish between laughter, crying and yawning for them its all physically painful and stressful on the body..they feel that they are using the same muscles of the body..but then as they begin to grow older the mind begins to do funny things and tells them laughter is good, crying is bad, yawning is boredom..once they realize this life becomes mechanical..but this is how the society function or rather malfunctions...you very well know you physiologically crying laughing yawning are utilizing the same part of the body so why on earth are they producing different effects..this the conditioning of the society and the world we live in..elders before us and afters us and us ourselves indulge in this as we are so habituated to this phenomenon of using emotions to determine our sense of being..we function from emotions and emotions screws everything up..not having emotions does not mean you are not sensitive..in fact in absence of emotions your sensitivity will be much higher and your instincts will be much clearer..but we have created a society that is obsessed with emotions and driven totally by it. everything must have an emotional appeal thereby sensitivity is weakens because sensitivity is physiological function while emotions works with psychology...this is the cognition that we all have undergone...if we try to undo this and work from our sensitive selves you will notice that you will be crying laughing and yawning more and talking and typing less...communication with words will minimal and through eyes will be greater..visual aid and auditory will have minimal role in society...take look at the tribal world notice how well the elders and minors are so well integrated there...there is no concept of TABOO and the role of ego almost absent..strength is only shown in physical ability...mental and intellect is preserved and reserved for predictions...take a look around emotional societies have created an emotional mess in the world today...psychedelic is not a spirit its a mood           When death comes to your doorstep, make sure you are alive
