They are awesome and definately a good role model as well as talented. I want to start to create my own music. Will someone please help me and tell me what i need to do/get? Thank you, and sry i'm such a noob

remember that in production there´s midi and audio...try to work with them booth , and remmber also that filter´s and Equalizer´s are problably( along with reverb) the most "important" thing in music production..
good luck

i would advice to start with cubase, its a complicated sequencer for a beginner, but if you want to learn to swim, you got to jump in to the water.
so get cubase sx 3 and since you are a beginner , here you can buy dvd tutorials of cubase sx3.
https://askvideo.com/index.php?cPath=22&osCsid=244d303337e246a01ae4f03a4b753a9b
also the soundblaster is bad for audio so get a new soundcard. the maudio audiophile 192 , will do for you. its a good soundcard.
http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Audiophile192-main.html
also get a midi controller keyboard so that you can play with vst instruments not using your mouse.
http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/MK461C-main.html
also studio monitors would be adviced.
if you have the money then buy dynaudio bm6,
its the same infected mushroom use.
if you not rich then go for the cheaper ones like samson rubicon 6a ( really good monitor for the price).
research befor you buy stuff...
and if you really serious about music production then i would advice you to go to sound engineering school, you dont have to..you can learn eveything you need without the school but the prosses will be longer.
and dont expect results like infected mushroom or even any other mediocre psy producer.
take it slow and learn as much as you can.
if you really serious about this then you have a few loooooong years ahead of you...
good luck.

Since you have Acid Studio 5.0, start with it, it's quite easy. Once you feel confident with the basic principles of midi/audio sequencing, vsti's and fx plugins, you can switch to Cubase or anything else, although i wouldn't recommend it.
I use Acid Pro 6.0, it's a lot easier than cubase, more stable, less buggy, same sound quality and 100 times faster to have results(if you use or want to use samples and loops and want also to produce other styles of music).
A friend told me once that the biggest mistake we make is that we believe we live, when in reality we are sleeping in the waiting room of life. |

i donno how you people use acid for music composition...from my experience its hard to compose high quality original music with acid. by original i mean not "sample cd loops" based.
i donno it just kills my insperation when i open acid all i wanna do is pull loops in to it and loop for infinity.
i think the daw should feel and look pro.
and i didnt hear alot of producers who use acid for composition. maybe for remixing...
acid just dosent feel right.
and how can you say that the sound is the same quality as in cubase when it was never mentioned that acid has a 32 bit internal sound engine.
did someone check how the sum of the mixer sound compare to cubase (with same audio loops) ?
and also the midi editing is far more superior in cubase. and correct me if im wrong but almost 90% of an "ORIGINAL" track is midi.

all you really need is the will!
you have a computer and you have a soundcard...
now try and do with what you got..
i started out on a soundblaster and a PIII 800mhz,
borrowed a roland mc 505, but only had it for some weeks, so i got introduced to vst instruments and software, i struggled with cubase vst 5, and fruity loops, tried to learn what the parameters meant, and how they interacted with eachother, lots of head scratching and frustrating moments,
as time went i got a simple midikeyboard, a old casio, and a pair of decent headphones, akg 240,
the speakers i got was some big jvc´s then i borrowed some hifi speakers a pair of sony..
now i got better ones.
the most important thing is that you have sound in some way...
now time has gone, i probably had this hobby for 6 years, and its so much to learn.
the technical side of it and the musical side of it..
i love music, so im struggling with learing to play guitar, piano and drums.. just to be able to jam with others, casue thats magical
i got so much to learn, its a struggle, its therapy..
especailly to really finish something and be satisfied...
my advice to you is to have fun...
cause its the most important part, that its fun to learn and that you feel that you get stimulation from what you do..
if you set your mind to do something you can do it..
so get to it and do it! ask questions when they arise!
and do get your self somekind of instrument, a drum, a guitar a keyboard, or a flute or whatever, its very nice to have a instrument to practise, you will get a better feel for what you do musically..
a very fun thing is to make your own practise tracks, and play along
Good luck and just get started with what you got, save money and buy what you think you need.
and to answer the real question,
"Where does the beginner begin?"
-The beginner just begins! |

MedicineMan, If you dont mind, can i please say something? Screw this thread man!
As you can see, slowly this thread will only confuse you with people trying to prove to the world what is better, which has been discussed a million times here!!!!
Just read the FAQ and the "Read this First" thread on top. I can PROMISE you, you will find almost everything you need!!! Thats is how is started and i didn't know jack when i started. Not that i know much now but i think i'm getting better.
Anyway, search for these people's comments. Anything they say about music will help you, if not now then surely in a few months time, you'll understand what they're talking about.
