Ok here's the deal for me.... High bpm's.... leave it to the experts..... Furious....Highcosmos....KAshyykk Coz what they make is very intelligent. though one can say u cld dance to it, i still feel its more geared for home listening. Push play and think... wow tht some cool stuff goin in there!
And then there is high bpm made by copycats.... no scales.... no harmonics.... only noise, glitched breaks... and white noise Kiss my A%$% leads... Its not really recommended to listen this, unless you have somekinda Gabber/Noise background...
I guess what Aaron is pointing out is the latter....

and currently many have been following the motto of 'if at first you don't suceed use excessive force' which i found hilarious as a tag/signature from mubali on isra...
and this aspect of the scene has gotten to the point where, as someone pointed out, its growing faster than psytrance in their region... this does not bode well for subtlety and sublime vibes in general...
so i take time out of my work to criticize this trend of fast and noisy and to point out that trance exists between house and hardcore... go too much in one direction or the other and its not trance...
the word psychedelic is obviously a subjective term and one cannot teach taste.
fast psy trance is avoiding the question of content and is going for the hollywood approach of special fx first and plot as a secondary concern. if the first impulse when faced with a creative 'hole' to fill is simply to crank up the fx and kick it into another gear (different bassline and crazy break) then what about the development of the story line? (leads, melodies, riffs...)
i like eye and ear candy as much as the next person but when the aesthetic becomes "who can make the most radical fast crazy thing ever" you will soon see that physics alone will cause breaks and flaws in the plan.
if you know sound you know that a 128th note sequence at 150bpm has a NOTE not a rythm but a pitch... if you play a 64th note at 300bpm you have the same effect.
if a bassline note (singular) of the usual 3-in-a-row of psy takes 50ms to come and go, and if you know what a low bass note requires in terms of time to open fully, you can see the problems that may occur if
1) you have high bpm
2) you have low bassline notes- subby- trying to be more 'dark'
3) you insist on using the traditional 3-in-a-row bassline note.
producers do yourselves an a-b test- put a long note at a given bassline pitch.
then put a sequence of short notes.
which one is a)louder b)bassier
this is an empirical test to demonstrate why basslines in drum-n-bass are phatter than fast dark psy.
this is only the beginning of many observations i have made. for those who wish to move beyond rhetoric and blind loyalty to a pointless cause i suggest making your own observations about things and pause before just jumping on the bandwagon...

yes well 90 bpm hiphop kicks are by far more long and subby then 128bpm 4x4 maybe thats the real dark trance  (btw heard of rbass and eq? they can fatten your sound in any bpm)
that hole topic is rotten from the base very first post in spilling shit on people you know and dont know

i felt rather free to be rude its true in my initial posting. im trying to tell this macho trend in macho terms to "fuck off"
most people tell me they don't want it. some people on smaller parties ask for it- its all they are used to now. i dont want to go there. many of those same people on small parties who ask for fast music also offer me speed. speed is not psychedelic. i think this fast psy trance is a wrong turn and will result in the scene getting tired of it very quickly and there will be massive burnout when the shit hits the fan. mark my words- ive see 2 speed waves hit the scene already and its LAME every time... then people decide 'trance is not good' and drop out... welll... im in this for the long term... its not good for the scene. my 2 cents... ok ive already spent a dollar/euro blabbing on wth my 2 cents... i'll shut up now and accept that many people on this forum LIKE FAST PSY. have fun. back to your usual discussions...
