Hi !
What i have found out is that you should use headphones when you arrange, create melodies.
But when it comes to making new sounds, mixing i believe the beat thing is to use speakers.

i think i is wise to check your mix when your making it also through headphones. The mix should sound good in your speakers as well as in the headphones. if the mix seems good in your speakers but sounds bad in headphones there is a problem with the mix so i use headphones to check when i get to the mixing stage. but headphones is just to check if is everything packed in the right place and not to mix with in my opinion

Also, I have found cheaper headphones (less bassy ones) suiteble for checking reverb effects (you hear them clearer in headphones IMHO).

actually what happens with reverbs and headphones is the problem. headphones cant transulate the reverbs i meen, they always sound too big when listrening with headphones and thats a problem becase you may be enduced to use alighter reverb becaue it sounds big in headphones but once you playit in speackers its almost invisible. for me reverbs must be made through speackers and try tto find a good point that sounds good in the speakers and headphones but the important thing about reverbs is that they must sound good in the speackers rather then headphones.

Uh...what? If you're referring to me, I definitely didn't say never use headphones. I said be careful because people often wind up getting tinnitus....I did. Just don't use them for hours on end and keep the volume at a reasonable level.

Headphones are indispensible for fine tuning sounds, and as a mix check (provided you are very familiar with the heaphones you're using).

I somehow fell the sound fits best if the sound does sound most equaliy on monitors and on headphones. its
hard to get it 100%. You will have find that sweet spot in the mix that is present when listening on headphones and on your monitors.... a thing of tweaking I guess.

I use AKG headphones only ...

Hi there,
i think that headphones are good to choose the right time of reverb and for sure of the delay...
Then if you have a good monitors you can forget it...
