well it is a nice question..and i guess the older users/trancers can enlight u more than i can mate
but i guess it was around 2000 when the 3rd boom happened included a big line up, some workshops xill out etc etc..i mean i guess it was well organized..and after that catapultated us (Portugal)as a comunitie hable 2 make a festival, and parties that were noticed around the world
or i can b wrong i am not from that time..but i guess it was around that time..or maybe 2000 settled our scene as big.
but i am sure some users can help u more than i can mate..
see ya ... |

i think that a3k is tottally right the psy moviment became massive afther the third boom fest (2000)
the name say`s it all BOOM !!! afther that fest the psytrance became popular 4 most of the ppl in portugal u can see that in the org`s that promote big partys in portugal b4 2000 it was Good Mood , Hypnose , Quest 4 Goa , afther that many org`s apear and disapear , and the quality of the partys is just come`ing down and down
i still remenber the first party afther boom 00 fest (hypnose/ barroca`d`alva - alcochete) i saw many new ppl in the scene b4 it was like 1000 max and afther it was 1000 min ...
but yeah that life eheheh

Hello!
Greetings to all.
I don't know if the "psy movement" becoming massive is such a good thing. It's probably the other way around.
I remember back in 1997 when the 1st BOOM Festival was oganized, there where realtively few people there, compared to today. But i can tell you that the "vibe" was quite different than what i see in today's parties. It's not that it has become better or worse. Everyone has his own opinion on that matter.
I agree that it was around the time of the 3rd BOOM that the so called psy movement in Portugal became "massive". As Methodic Marble said, today you have 2 or 3 parties in the same weekend. It has become a business and something to be explored in a commercial way, with all the "good's" (not so many!) and all the "bad's" (quite more!) that come with it.
Something similar happened in the so called Rave movement. I started going to "parties" in around 1989 when i was 17. From my experience, the Rave movement in Portugal was good until around 1994. After that, it has become comercial with "rave parties" every weekend, and in many cases those parties had nothing to do with the original movement. Around 1998 the Rave movement was dead in Portugal. For me it died in the end of 1995 when i attended my last rave party.
I do hope the psy movement doesn't die. In many ways it is much better than the rave movement ever was.
I guess it is up to us trancers to start to be more selective about the parties we attend.

nothing more nothing less
yeah since 1999/2000 we start to see that the parties were more crowded because i remember parties before that were with very few people and and very much spirit after that we start to see parties with very few spirit and very much people i speak for my self i dont say that is good or bad we have so many parties around ill guess that we have to make choices nowadays i dont go often to parties.but the real mass movement was i guess after 2002 "the year of the mitras" that the ambient starts to became real bad in some parties only with junky kids with stupit trips and drug dealers (my opinion)i dont give a fu**``*k if they fried their brain but itīs sad to see when they mess arround with others that try to keep the good mood.but sometimes we can go to some good parties and have a good time.
  dont worry be hippie |

Trance parties as i knew it are dead already. but this is my opinion based on my experience.
This is a controversial (i'm not sure how to write this word ) because those who didnīt have the chance to know goa or trance on the early days donīt feel or know what i mean.
i remember that to know about the next party you had too go to the last one to get the flyer or know somebody that knew.
Of course the internet played a decisive roll on massifying trance scene in portugal.
and i could go on and on...
In a few words: PLUR does no longer exists in people that atend trance parties.
