i been having some issues with my computer,
so i guess i cotta do the most hated thing in the studio, the reformat HD and clean install..
this time ima do a back-ip
im thinking of acronis... since i heard alot of good stuff... but open to other good apps that do the same job...

also is it bad to have a shitload of plugins??
i got a shit load so im deciding to install this time just the ones i really use alot and benifit from...

i was having problems working on live when id have a bunch of vst's and when i dropped one that usually works id get an error saying that the plugin doesnt work with the app which is just bullshit cus i know it works so lil by lil i started deleting plugins to see what plugin was fuckn me up and found 3 so far - massive, circle, and forgot the other ones...

are these issues occuring because
A. i got too many plugins
B. some are cracked
C. both
D. it could be some sort of conflict between some plugins whether they are cracked or not?

i've used cracks in the past and never had any issues but recently i've added more which could also be the problem.

last question...
when u back up ur hd with acronis do u usually save the image after u got all ur hardware set-up only or with ur basic vsts and stuff aswell?

im trying to get this done right so i never have to go thrue this again i must have done this like 10 times in my life, and i truly fuckn hate it, thanks in advance guys

you can install everything from hardware/drivers/software(plugins, vsts etc)
and then make the backup ,, so if smthng occurs you can take your image in 15 minutes with everything installed and ready to go!
of course make sure everything is working fine before you take the back up with no conflicts ,, but yeah you can take everything that's the beauty of it
when you make the backup choose a folder in your second drive (i assume you have a second one) and then take the image files and burn them on a cd and you're done

I use Norton Ghost.

It is the most reliable one I found...

and buy the way, I love formating!!! I do it every six months!
and also I have 2 HD's and my OS is always on a separate volume... so theres no need for a backup...           https://soundcloud.com/avivtech

word, im not completely screwed since i do have a HD just with samples, midi, and presets so i dont atleast nowdays have to go thrue the long process, but definitly i hate the whole process, especially that my computer doesnt even touch the internet once, i do all unlocking over phone or email from an other cpu, just to be on the safe side...

so is norton ghost better than acronis?

You can try move all your VSTs to your recycle bin, load up cubase and then individually start moving VSTs back to their folder till you see which one is giving problems.

Be very, very caeful as not to empty your recycle bin! I've done this before. It sucks.

It is a pain but I suggest making a clean install with only the most used stuff , both music and otherwise , brand new computer feel

u sure right MK47,
will all these new goodies, we get distracted with music due to conflicts, so by time im finished, i feal more like a computer tech than a musician...
but i always try to look at the brighter side, less plugins now and more space to learn inside out what i really like so far, im one of those peoples that see's a new plugin cracked, and i go try it out to see if it suits me better sometimes the results are good but for the most part they are not, but with time they accumulate on my hd, and used here and there and thats when all the issues start popping, i guess less isss. MORE
so i'll take it as blessing... i get distracted at times with latest junk and i know it but its so fuckn fun, im gonna have my main plugins on my main daw and move over the other stuff and cracks used to my slave cpu to avoid any issues, i also will install norton ghost instead taking the advice of my fellow mates, thanks guys... isratrance always makes me feel right at home with people who haved been in my same shoes, ahhh the comfort to have someone say i know how it feals things so small can really make a bad day better thanks again, best regards Deyan

The more you install, the more unstable a PC can become. A matter of software conflicts.

Dont install too many plugins, especially if they are cracked.           http://www.facebook.com/nasa.tranceproject

thanks for the feedback NASA, i guess i learned the hardway, i have distributed my vsts
the main ones on my main DAW and the rest on my slave daw, that oughta get me back on track... i knew too much perhaps was why my system became unstable, i never had that issue but as time went by i kept installing more to check em out and therefore shit hit the fan, so yeh a limitied set-up is morestable. how many plugins in a cpu should be fine? i'll post when im finish how many i got running...

I have NEVER experienced that software can bring down a computer unless they tend to call for a dongle or some other hardware through .dll calls (the dongle-emulator for steinberg products for instance thats some cracking group wrote). A pure vst plugin may cause instability to your sequencer but not the whole OS and cause BSOD, unless your running win 98 ME or some other outdated OS.

How many vsts that are ok? Depends on how fast your cpu is.           Demand recognition for the Armenian genocide 1915
