Lets say there is a party open air or club scene or whatever.. the entry is charged as usual and people are already there anticipating a rocking party! but for some reason either the sound doesnt get there, or there is a technical problem or the cops play spoilt sport and the artist never gets to play his/her set. now does the artist still get paid for it?

And also, since this has happened to me a couple of times that having paid an exorbitant amount for entry to a club the scene dint quite last that long.. is it not the moral duty of the organiser to compensate in some way they can.. maybe slash half the entry for the next party? or give em all a round of drinks.. ?

This is ofcoure most obviously relative to the country you are in. Here in India, the cops bust almost every other club scene that happens!           Nothing is said that has not been said before.

It depends on whether the promoters were doing something risky and whether the artists were informed of those risks.

it is a very fair question.
Where i live, events happen in such a remote location that the authorities do not care what happens there.

if i have to judge, i'd say the organizers have to refund all parties involved.

Morals in this scene?

I dont know why but a lot of people involved in parties production is the kind that doesn have morals.

why it atracts a lot of people like that I may ask?           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

yes i still get paid.
just as no one gonna give me more money if the party had x4 people and huge profit then the originl plan , i aint gonna give my money for organizer who didnt made his homework.
at least in israel you can make it leagal party which is much better but expensive or you can make it illegal and trust your luck...
i always show up on time , ready to play. thats my part of the deal.
anywayz i usualy can let go of part of the money , but no one will pay me my hours and gas etc. not to mention that i take only i gig a day therefor probably refused another gig which might been perfect.          www.sattelbattle.com

there is a reason why the ORGANIZER is called ORGANIZER--they are supposed to ORGANIZE permits etc up front--no surprizes--dont do a party if you cant handle a situation

Just because you have permits does not mean the police will not bust you anyway...

See the recently party in los angeles where even though the organizers were granted a permit to allow entry to people age 16 and up, the police showed up and said that everyone who was under 18 had to leave, and then after a few minutes shut the party down because there were too many people under 18.

There are also "crackhouse laws", where if the police see even one person smoking a joint they can shut the whole thing down.

If an organizer book an artists or Dj to play then there's no excuse not to pay unless specific terms are agreed. Always ask at least 50% in advance min. 1 month prior to the gig and the remaining 50% at arrival. If the renaming 50% are not paid the artist have no obligation to play whatsoever. It is the organizers responsibility to ensure payments to the artists and Dj's no matter what happens.           www.beatagency.dk

u see the Smoke Out started as an illegal shin ding..today it generates a revenue for the city of San Bernadino..the mayor there does not want the Smoke Out to go to any other city...they city promotes it...the system will work with you if you involve them in the process right from the start..not just use them to get your permit...get them involved let them be a part of your organization..your costs will go down, and you can get shit done for free
and you will make more money and you will be bling bling with slings..thats the way you build a robust industry...thats way hip hop went from trash to cash..thats how graffiti went from brick walls to sneakers ...thats why timothy leary left the hippies and ventured with the technology and Steve Jobs still gives him credit so do a whole bunch of silicon valley technology geeks...while the psychedelic hippies hate him...

yeah thats nice Either way the fest went to the 4rth day, so they must have got the mone's worth. But what if it was day 1, or 2.. would the people at the party/fest get a refund? i doubt it. theres no terms and conditions on the back of the entry pass or ticket.. now is there?           Nothing is said that has not been said before.

Once in delhi Goa Gil gig was closed after 2 hours by cops..... so the orgs organised another gig with Quantum & Karen Porat & offered free entries to all who paid earlier for Gil gig.

I think most artists get paid, what so ever!

to that , It makes sense for the Artists & the Organizers Both so that the ppl who comes for party they will not lose faith !!!           UVV Project / Mandala Project / Crystal noize Project / Cosmic Crew

Be not angry that you cannot make others as you wish them to be, since you cannot make yourself as you wish to be.
