And make the sounds to sound well?
Leaving the real low end to the kick (25-50) and the rest to the bass?
Giving more high freqs to the bass itself and almost no real low ones (below 80 for example)?
Its kinda hard to make something like that, usually i dont do that but in the new tune its neccessary.
Any thoughts and ideas? Meanwhile those are mine..

Try putting the bass sound that comes at the same time as the kick on another seperate channel, and remove the lows untill it sounds right...
That's my idea...
Good Luck...

I cant use sidechain, I need that KICK and BASS together on some notes. I know its not the most proffesional thing to do, but that what I need.
Offcourse Ill make in the end what sounds better, but I need to open my ears and eyes to other ideas for that thingy.

i would rather make sure that the kick and bass can sit ontop of eachoter by choosing the right freqs for them, but if it sounds too wimphy when they dont work together you could make one copy for the "hit on same time" and one copy for not...
if you only need the snapp of the kick? then just eq out the lows, though not too much so it gets too obvious.. you get my point.
i dont use much sidechaining! you could duck manually with velocity, couldnt you? i need to experiment more with sidechaining..
if you adjust the velocity of the kick or bass it can sometimes make dramatical change to the sounds..
and if they are balanced not too clash it should work well...
when they reinforce eacother too much you know they are competing. to find balance is sometimes devil in detail or pure luck..
if there is a will there is a way!

Sidechaining with filtered input.
Filter the high frequencies from the kick so only the low goes into the sidechain. This way you can compress only when there is actual bass in the kick, so the transients of the bassline can go through. Preety nice.

or for this interesting hint you use the tcnative de-esser/compressor on bass with sidechain-insert on an extra audio (copy) track of the kik in which you equed the high freqs away. you can then mute in the sidechainer this copykik-track so in the mix you only hear the original kik. boom. |

u can try this...put the kick through some distortion or overdrive and then try to tune it according to the bass |

or just use the top of the kick on the bottom of a bass note...
or make a different kick for different notes.
there's many ways I guess. |
