Hi guys!!!..

i would like to do a live act... i was thinking first in burning my songs in traktor and playing them but.... i would preffer to play and tweak and control my songs live w/synths, midi controllers and vsti, even guitars, etc.... so which way is better to do it? ableton live? loading loops of my songs there? cubase? making a giant mix there with all my songs in cubase an adding midi tracks to tweak??? combinating them all??... tell me your experiences pls or other ways to do it that i haven tought, tips or techniques... a problem i have is that im only one person, so im not an octopus either so i need a way to automate things at least when i play the guitar.

thanks!!

if you want to use cubase, you can for example bounce your tracks, but without like 1 or 2 sinths per track....

import all the tracks into cubase, and then add the remaining synths you haven't exported (in midi), so you'll be able to tweak them live....but with soft synths its not very user friendly to do this....and you risk getting an overload during live...

ableton live seem good

I guess that with Ableton you have fewer chances to get a software crash on stage.
Im not sure if you can put midi on the Ableton tracks, but it accept VST.

Hook two comps together and have Traktor on one and Live on the other, then have them midi synced. You can record certain tracks and have them playing on Traktor while you spice it up with clips from Live, this was you can also go from song to song without having to stop the music.

If you use a mac try RadiaL at www.cycling74.com it is quirky as hell and has been bugging me but is an interesting unique prog.

I've done what FluoSamsara suggests four times. It worked out pretty good, so I can only encourage this

hardware! hardware! hardware! hardware! hardware!

just my opinion of course. there's so many ways to do a live pa you just have figure out what works for you and experiment a bit. abletons a great program, a lot of people use it, but there's no midi. so if you want to take synths on stage you'll need a sequencer as well (hardware!). i wouldn't trust cubase on stage for a minute, but abletons really stable (though i just saw a pa last sat. that was using it & had it crash). of course with software your mileage will vary depending on your computer. if you can't tell, i'm all hardware. lots of knobs & buttons. wouldn't do it any other way, at least for now.

check out www.livepa.org , lots of good info there. another good forum if your leaning towards software (esp ableton) is http://www.em411.com/show-forum.php?bb_forum_id=9

good luck and have fun!

micromusic´s right

Try Akai MPC 1000 and some synths. Don´t be afraid of doing something more than just pushing the play button!

When i play out i mix my tunes down into a few stereo files (one for drums, one for bass and some more for the rest etc), so that i can mess about with fx inserts on some of the tracks. When ur mixing it down, remove some of the synth lines and then run them live with midi so u can tweak away. I think it would b too much of a headache for me to do more, seeing as though just before a gig, im always frantically trying to finish writing the tracks anyway!
