I have Sennheiser HD-25 headphones. They may not be crazy on the bass, but I feel like they have a very balanced sound, one that I can trust.

I owned some beyerdynamic dt770's and I never knew if I was making the bass too loud or quiet.

I think it's a personal thing, I really need to have my speakers (or headphones) not very bass heavy in general or I don't know what is to much or too little.           ~Airyck~

With them being open back headphones and me never trying open back headphone types, generally how loud is it in the room, outside the headphone, when listening fairly loud. Is it bound to annoy someone while they are sleeping a couple meters by behind you in the early hours of the morning?

I want a good headphone to use late at night while my gf sleeps and dont have any good immediate access to a store where i can go test drive a few pairs so thought i would start by asking here?

that is exactly the problem i am having at the moment on the hd 595's but the thing is i dont think it has always been like that it just seemed to happen recently

hd 25's are the ones i have trev, i find it impossible to set the bass and kick on these headphones and much prefer using my speakers and even then it's worth checking on other systems. i've also noticed problems with the tonality of leads and stuff when i've used headphones only. sometimes i'm quite surprised when i play a track back on speakers after having worked on headphones for a while.
i'm defo looking to improve my monitoring when i can - i reckon it'll speed things up quite a bit.

didnt like the HD-25's at all - especially for the bottom end. Even the lower DT-150's from Beyerdynamic were much more balanced.

Even if i am not used to play with headphones, at the moment i got an AKG K141STUDIO (broken).

I think it's a problem with the cable but i don't know how to open the earpads so i am thinking to bring it to the dealer (i hope he can do anything). The question is: it worth the fix or should I change it? And btw, anyone tried the M-Audio one?           http://soundcloud.com/alphadelphi

I quite like these ones. They are very comfortable for long use in the studio and they sound quite good (although I don't have alot of reverence material except for dj headphones).           soundcloud.com/supergroover
