I have an older Eventide unit (H3000 D/SX) which I love, but the newer ones are capable of a lot more. I haven't messed with the newer ones mainly because if I did I'm sure I'd want to buy one and I simply don't have the funds right now. Eventide makes pretty solid stuff so hunting around used is a good option I think, even if their stuff doesn't come up all that often.

I had an Eventide Eclipse in my studio for about a year and it is by far THE best effects processor I have ever used. The Orville is more DSP of the same quality. I think it is 4 Eclipses in a rack, or something like that. But don't take my word for it as I am not sure.
The algorithms are out of this world. The Eventide stuff is very expensive, but it is worth every penny.
If you have the cash to spare go for it, you'll be very happy.

I used to work regularly with an H3000 and at this point, the H3000 (or anything by Eventide) would be the only processor I would even bother to bus out of the DAW to. Eventide stuff is unmatched. I really wish they would go VST, UAD, or Powercore. |

hmmm maybe i'll just buy an eventide instead of that car i was looking for
just kidding... i especially like the way u can change just about every possible parameter to make outworldly delays and weird reverbs, as well as impossible phasing effects and fucked up chorusses (which are ofcourse all delay effects)... or strange versions of the other effects that come with the box, depends on which one u have... if u have the money, don't doubt, just buy it!! |
