Hey psybeings!
im at the beggining of a big project that 'll include lycra installations and string art, and i have some questions bout it:
1st. whats the best strings to use for outdoor deco (material and Diameter)
2nd. Anything better than wood for the frames?
3d. stapples, map pins, nails or what to hold the strings on the frame?

cant think of anything else atm, but im sure there will be smth when i start...

Any tips would be much appreciated..

boom!

After a thorough search on related topics at the forum i.ve found nothing... nobody seems willing to share tested knowledge..
anyway, for the frames i thought (after some experiment) that wood isnt that convinient , too time consuming and there are no curves...
what would u think bout cooper water tubes.?? any body have tested that??? Its flexible, cheap, durable and easy at joining, and drilling holes...
As for the ropes every fluo thin rope would do i guess as long as its durable.

yeah, I've also searched this forum looking for better ways and came up pretty empty on new ideas. we've been using nails on wood for the string, and screwing the wood structure together (for portability). it's a lot of nails and hammering though. i've also been holding back on the designs with this method as well, it's hard to join six pieces of wood together at complex angles with screws.

i like your copper tubing idea, but i wonder how to join the ends together? i know you can buy fittings at 90, 45, 60 degree angles, but i haven't seen much for junctions i'd want to use, say two pieces at 60 degrees apart and a 90 off of that.

another concern i have is when you go to string it, you'll have to loop the string through the holes, and keep feeding and feeding from the first hole and every hole onward. with nails you tie off the first point and just wrap it on the next nail.

i might give it a shot though.
