Basically, anything electronic - but since most four-on-the-floor music is usually better defined, electronica is usually used to refer to the more free-styled music.

electronic or semi electronic music that
you can't file under a specific excisting
genre and which is often more downbeat
than upbeat.
for example: if an artist combines dub, jazz,
electro and tuvan throat singing he
would definately be filed under electronica  |

i would say electronica is the most broad term for this world of music. electronica is trip hop, techno, house, drum n bass, psytrance, cheeze trance, happy hardcore, breakbeats, ambient, industrial...basically anything made with electronic instruments. |

i would agree with vector_0. why should i use the name 'electonica' to downtempo or freestyle music only? i think all the music that produced with electronic beats and using computer fxs and mastering is electronica.
