hi there
i dont understand why there is so much high value given to what software u use.....
i thought it was about making good music, but people r judging ppl music on what software is he using specially fruity loop n cubase...
i have used fruity loop n i never used cubase ( i couldnt get the free software from the net )
but still why so much hype to the softwares...used .....
i belive the music makes a artist better n best not the softwares he is using...
just a thought....

Actually i consider working with Fruity and Cubase totaly uncreative (thats just me i hate combining bricks as a child), eighter i was composing before with rewired fruity in cubase, now i think its dumb stuff. i prefer playing live today, it kind of has spirit,trancedence and intuition in it. |

well,
i think cubase is the minimal prj to use with quality not just sounds but quality work and to know ur sound better for example: automation is really smooth and
basicly after working with all new host prj i belive cubase is the most easy and pro tool thats out now adays

There are quality issues between these programs, Cubase is better and i'm tired to repeat again where.
On both you can make psytrance because psytrance is low quality music at the end, and software is only on of problems when ears, hearing system and experience are at the same group with tool. |

psytrance is not low quality music in no way its very difficult to make good mixes in psytrance cos of 1 reason only
psy has an average of 30 sounds in a mix that needs some skills to mix properly without having booms and clicks (overlapping problems)other genres i found easier cos of less sounds to fit in the freq spectrum!
fl vs cubase sounds funny to me you can make great sound on both iff you know what you do
dont judge iff you dont like something music is the only that counts in the finnish line

People think that cubase is better since it costs a shitload of money. But the fact is when you make psytrance there are a lot of features in cubase you don't need, for instance audio recording (sure some use it, but you understand me  )
So when you're only working with software/vsts, I don't think it matters much what sequencer you use. Of course the mixing routines in the programs do differ.
As with all the other discussions about it, it comes down to a matter of taste, what program you feel most comfortable with. Remember, it's the musician who makes the music, not the program.

Umm.. i disagree thoroughly. I personally think that psy at the moment has possibly the best budget/production ratio of all music.
I.e. less money spent, better tracks made.
Compare to hip-hop, multi-million pound business. Simple production, the only reason it sounds as 'fat' as it does is due to the money that's put in at the commercial end of the spectrum, more underground hip-hop is often not produced very well at all.
Pop is all money and catchy riffs, imagine how good one of your tracks would be if you had a team of professional engineers working with you to get the best sound possible, on the best equipment.
I recon drum and bass is the only music style that compares in terms of budget vs. production.

Channel number is not an excuse, since with even less channels you can create much more powerfull atmosphere.
Nik, i agree if we speak of ratios psytrance is very high budget/production. Although again i speak of 90% of psytrance artists who are not GMS, Wizzy Noise or Son Kite with their quality. Many of psytrance sound very amateur, so it doesn't matter if you use Cubase or Fruity Loops to make it. This was the point.
NOw for something i don't like in Fruity Producer, i can't connect and record hardware, i can't get clean output signal, i can't use shortcuts, i can't use offline effects...... in Cubase i can. It make process faster and easier. There is nothing to like or dislike, just pure facts. What i dislike is low quality audio editor Fruity has, but this is matter of choise. |

in the end its the person who makes good music not software. using cubase orlogic wont make u produce a good song. im sure there are good songs made in fruity.. But its fucked u guys are so clode minded to admit that cubase is a much better sequencer and has no comparison to fruity, either u use vst or hardware or both.Why ?? The mixer just to start! and the interface once u learn it u can work faster and better. Why u think many people move from fruity to cubase, and i don know anyone that moves from cubase to fruity.. of course it would be a step down!!!
have nothing against fruity was my first soft.. but guys cmon... of course cubase is in another level. |

here is another option.
i use fruity for loops
sx for arranging and mixing
logic for pre-mastering and
wavelab for mastering.
every proggy has its cons and pros.
take it easy...
