Pinguin , probably the best one out there..use it on a seperate pc and connect it via spdif or any optical cable to avoid latency..           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

Spectralab, from Sound Technology... they don't sell it any more but it's by far the most accurate and easy to read tool I've found, and I've tried a few. You can download a demo of their latest product here:

Like Pinguin you should run this on a separate computer as it will take all your CPU if you let it...           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

sorry but i never used one, how can a spectrum analyzer can help me improve the tune?

and I tought the parametric eq 2 could be used as a s.a           ``We shall not cease from exploration - And the end of all our exploring - Will be to arrive where we started - And know the place for the first time.``

i like these useable tools. sure they help u improve your tune maybe. they´re great to keep attention on your freq. spectrum so that special or different frequencies dont bite each other with their range, which sometimes is not that easy to hear

it´s better to have more control ofthe sound, even if it´s visual, than less imo....

pls correct me if im wrong, really n00b opinion.

imo its just about finding holes in fq spectrum and see accurate how the bass responses with the rest of the tune..and so on..you need to listen signals solo and stuff ,

together and what not...so pinguin meter got at least the most possible kind of reflection like rms and peak and so on and is pretty much overloaded for psytrance use but still interesting to work with.

voxengo and ozone & stuff might do the job for E-music as well but imo if you know how to use this tools right...pinguin meter is the way to go...

I'm a huge fan of nugen audio visualizer

http://www.nugenaudio.com/visualizer.php

It's very accurate in my opinion. It's a complete audio analysis plugin, it has improved my music 10 fold in quality since I started using it. The spectrogram has been very helpful in analyzing my bass and making sure my kick and bass match up well.
Try out the demo

Did I forget to mention I'm on mac? I also have a RME Fireface 400, and I have tried using DIGICHECK Totalyzer but the mac version doesn't support measuring of output signals. I've heard good things about Penguin, maybe I should try it. Thank you for all your responses

do you think a netbook can handle it? Or the ozone           ``We shall not cease from exploration - And the end of all our exploring - Will be to arrive where we started - And know the place for the first time.``
