People can post here what they do to make the kick and bassline fit, tight them together.

hi there! If you generate the kick in a synth you can make it the same note as the bass. load a sine wave for instance in osc1 of albino. in the mod matrix set up the mod envelope to control the pitch of the osc 1, and set the amount to 48. now go to MOD envelope and set atack to 0 , sustain to 0, and play with the decay untill you are satisfied. Now you know exactly the note of the kick, so put the bass in the same note of it and play with the knobs. take your time to set it right, set the envelope of the bass amp to: atack-0 sustain maximum, a bit of release. Set a LP 24 filter and make the envelope amount of it quite high. Now go to the filter envelope, set atack to 0, sustain to o low level, release to 0 and play with the decay untill you get that nice clicky sound. After it you could sidechain the bass to the kick so they gel best. I do that with Otiumfx compadre plugin. |

I simply use my ears. listen to your kick and bass in context with the rest of the song.
sometimes it helps to add a bit of distortion on the kick while tuning it.
close your eyes and route the pitch to a knob so you can tune it without looking on the screen... works really good

I use bazzism or live's operator and just use the same note / tone than ur kick... i'd check the actual note's fqncy ej. C1 = 32hz then ending frequency of my sinewave will be that.
I always chose bass note first then create or tune kick, i won't let a kick tell me what note to do my track on xD |

1: Find a kick that fits my mood.
2: Find a bass that fits the kicks mood.
3: Add subbass and maybe another one in the high end of the bass-spectrum

I use "sonogram" to line up the freq's on the end of the kick tail on the bottom end of the bass.
Or if my kick aint too clean then I'll do it by ear. |

ok, so, is important that the ``end frequency`` of the kick, be the same as the frequency note of the bass?
so if a kick ends at 40hz, the bass must starts at 40hz?

No no no!... unless you want it too.
I do sometimes... usually if I'm doing a one note bassline I will have the end freq the same as the bass fundamental, but otherwise I don't care as long as they have a similar register. |

Having a tuned kick is important in construction of a rolling bassline.
I prefer synthesizing a bass, then synthesizing a kick (rapidly sweeping sinewave) which has a root on the 1st harmonic of the bass. Trick is to use the envelopes to have sufficiently long presence of the root frequency, but no intersection with the bass 1/16th later. i.e. use the attack of the sweep to "tune" the click and balance the highs vs lows of the tambre. Then use the attack of the overall envelope to attenuate the click a little.
I also use some compression to bring out more of the bass or more of the click if lacking in the synth.
If you've done it right, it will sound like the bass note never stops playing, while having a very precise and clear kick. This ofcourse assumes a fullon style, but this can be applied equally for oompah or gallop basslines. |

yea yea
why does always must be the hardest way
leave your kick and bass alone
10 min work will do the job
http://www.sendspace.com/file/mu3rb5
here is an example
if u like it i'll pm the project
2 nuendo eq's and a simple quadra on the bassline |
