I have a question for all you producers and not.

Lets think someone asked you for a track to be included in a freely distribuited compilation.Let's suppose that this compilation is meant to be freely given to anyone going to a psy-party.

I wouldnt see the point for not giving my music for free.
Personally it is easy for me to understand people sharing music on a p2p so,why not giving some music for free?

Lets now say that you find out the cd compi is instead on sale (with your music in it) and you have never been informed about this ....ehm....."change" in the plan.

What would you do?

I would write all the details in a forum and bitch about it.

After having done that, I would get smart and ask for a contract next time it comes up.

I would hopefully have been smart enough to sign up with a national Copyright Organisation. Then I would contact the legal department and make sure the "sharks" paid instantly or faced a lawsuit and blacklisting from various distributors and shops.. Simple as that.

excactly... -they would then need a release contract with your signature in order to release it.

-if they haven't got that you will win the lawsuit if it comes to that.

Or maybe inform them of this and demand payment (to shut up and forget).

Of course i reg the track with PRS already.
And the money issue is not the main point of my observation.

I would have given the track for free even if i knew the compi was going to be sold.I know the guy is not going to make money with this release, and im getting enough already with other releases.

Seriously i think there is quite a bunch of people out tehre, that shouldnt be doing what they are doing.

ANd what it pisses me off the most is all the talking about "respect" and shit like that.......yeah right, just talking.

No wonder the whole scene is turning out being much worse than ever.

I dont wanna start preaching,it doesnt just suit me.

But I feel sadden to see this kind of arseholes polluting the scene.

F*** It Bro!!

If someone thinks my music is good enough to be on a sellable compil then thats all the boost my soul needs to hit the decks and make even more rokin tunes!!

And somehow karma does catch up with the creeps sooner or later, so just keep the faith!!

Life is a series of lessons to be learnt - learn them well and move on!!

I dont personally care if someone think my music is sellable,im doing music for myself and doing my releases already without having my music STOLEN.

Personaly, i would have slaugther them,
Only cause they lied, but its just me.

The track comes and goes , u can work on it for days or few hours, it doesnt matter..
it is always priceless because it is unique (there is only One like this in the whole world!)
poeple sell music usually to advance in what they do, or What they do - to advance them
if u choose to destribute your music for free, some , part of it.
i think it is a gift, because every piece of music (well, most of it) in the world, that you create or that being created by doesnt matter who... can only be an addon to this world , for poeple to listen, to dance and do what ever they like with it...
If the track is released, even not for personaly gain such as money, which is by the way important because an artists spends maybe hours a day of his busy life to dedicate for what he does, and for him to continue doing that he does the best, likes the best, or at least best of it
he has to get some worth, and in our world... its mostly money...

if as u say that track has been released, and u gave it for free because you thought its being destributed for free, so they decieved u ... its a federal offence....
you do what u like what it,

But know this, that if its out there, it could change a certain state of a person , in any situation (for good and worse)
which is a certinly important fact....

Good Day.
