But I wonder what were the the 10 most influential Albums/Compilations in the PsyScene from 1990 to 1994?

Basilisk's got most of them covered... though it would also be nice to get a list from someone who partied or spun this sound back in the early 90s.

would +
Banco De Gaia & The Orb's singles and EPs pre 1995 and of course Orzic Tentacles/Eat Static

Basilisk listed X-Dream's Trip To Trancesylvania (1993) and I couldn't agree more. The Live In Paris mix of the 5th Dimension is... I can't even describe the feeling that track evokes in me. That album is timeless! I'd also like to add Green Nuns of the Revolution's Whirling Dervish 12" (1994) and The Infinity Project's Stimuli/Uforica 12" (1994). Stimuli is an amazing track but I guess I'm quite partial to that track because Posford's involvement is so evident.

I can't really name any particular CDs from that time other than the X-Dream album. The way I feel the 12"s that came out in that period are the most intriguing must-haves from that era.

Thank you for the tip!!

I totally know basilisks essential collection but never realized that there were the "early years" lol
His doing a great job there, his openness and objectivity really impresses me.

I only know and own the X-Dream album from that time.. all the other I haven't heard consciously...

Most of it is not available anymore I guess... There should be a place where this music would be legally downloadable. That would be great!

Maybe a project to do someday.. contact all that guys and ask them for the rights...           Most of my music for you to download at:

VA - Order Odonata (Dragonfly Rec) and Juno Reactor - Transmissions haven't been mentioned and good lord, they should be. Those releases are the foundation for the transition of classic goatrance into psytrance, and musically these albums hold up to anything released since.

edit: now saw that they both appear in Basilisk's selections. Well rounded list, though lacking in SFX/Astral Projection's early works.          http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

Thanks for the mention! I updated my list today. Since there is a lot of interest in the early years even when the music is not so great I also added a bunch of links to other important (though less consistent) oldies.

If you are curious about what they sound like Youtube is a GREAT resource for this sort of thing... just punch in some track titles and see what you come up with. Here are a few I dug up just now:

Rise - The Single (Goa Pyramid Mix):

Electrotete - Alcatraz:

Koxbox - Birdy:

Etnica - Big Dust In Chapora Fort:

Sven Väth - Ritual Of Life (The Tribal Acid Mix):

There are many more kicking around... happy hunting!

Choice AKA Laurent Garnier - Acid Eiffel (1993):

Q: Did most DATs and cassettes from that era make it's way onto Vinyl/CD?

Curious to know if there were any anthems that were lost in time. Heard much about the DAT mafia and tapes only some DJs had their hands on.

An add for psychillers...

Banco De Gaia - Freeform Flutes and Fading Tibetans
KLF - The Chillout

Foundation albums... but then again, psychill roots can theoretically go back way further. Speaking of... the lines are so ambiguous. Acid Techno, Acid House = Psychedelic dance music. Goatrance seemed to be the only unique sound that came out of that massive Boom.

talked a lot about the music and vibes back in those days

also, it seems every goa producer from back in the day i talk to about his influences, one of the things that always comes up is The Age Of Love:

Dave Clarke

though these may not be psychedelic in nature they have had a significant impact on the psytrance

Dragonfly Project II trance- 93 i think... featuring The INfinity Project "feeling kinda weird"

The Orb- anything from them. very very psychedelic. especially live...

i think at that time i was rather eclectic and ignorant and yound and thus Lords of Acid and KLF and such were tolerated and even enjoyed...possibly even Prodigy ewww.
