Hey, i've got 5000euro to spend to my musicstudio and need some wise advice from you people? what should you buy? i want to cover as many things i can with it.

For the moment i got a pc, pentium 4 2,2Ghz dual core with 1gig ram. Running ableton live on it with lots of plugs. (try before buy principe;-)) A tascam 1082fw mixer also functioning as my soundcard, a access virus TI desktop,Korg Microkorg XL,Korg kaosspad3 and behringer truth monitors.

I wanted to buy the moog voyager XL but realised i can better buy a couple of things instead of 1 studio candy piece.. Would like to buy an affordable nice sounding analog synth....
All comments welcome,
Peace out,
davinski           access virus ti,waldorf blofeld, korg microkorg xl, roland sh-201, clavia nord wave, korg kaoss pad 3, DSI Tempest, hohner something...

i'd buy the Roland JP-8000 and a Nord Modular G2 for starter. Treat the studio into perfection.

cheers and happy spending!           For Contact & Bookings:

Well I'd upgrade the compter with a new processor and more ram. Also, a SSD hard disk could be nice for a bit faster performance

yes, thats definity a huge improving to your production and re-production

you will have instantly more time to produce, since your wife can cook, clean and make every house tasks for you... releasing your time for beautifull tracks, you also will be more productive since you may have sex every night and thats good for the mind, wich will result in major creativity!

dont think twice, find the finest porto rican girl near your and tell you love her

I could only say what i would do if i would be in your position.

Take a room, garage, any room or place you got that is over 20m2, invest in room treatment, basstraps, diffusers, or build them yourself it will be cheaper. do so that the room is NOT square. And get proper acoustics in it, i don't stop to repeat this enough on this forum, but this is the most important thing when it comes to making electronic music.

Basically do a real studio!

Once that is done with the rest of the money buy good monitors! dynaudio or similar and get a good sound card!

I would NEVER EVER buy any synth before i have what i wrote above covered.           On 2011-03-08 23:13, moki wrote:

I would spend it on;

Mopho
MonoPoly
KickLancet
Little Phatty
Tempest or maybe a cheap TR
a MIDI sequencer
however many rackmounts I can still afford

Basically Id get myself outfitted to play a hardware live set with as much analog as possible           .

if you are after quality mix thats the sad truth. no toys to play with until your acoustic is sorted.
with that money though i would pay a pro, cause acoustic is a real job and we don t become acoustician just by reading the net imo, just by checking your room he will know what to do ,on your own you will make trial and errors imo or not get the best out of it and it will take you a lot of time... just to find the best position for everything (if you ever find it).

but this subject is very complex ,i made some of my best mix in big untreated living room (30/40 m2)with high ceiling.
here a mastering studio in paris that mastered daft punk cassius and tone of these names that make techno and many bands...they have lot of gears but almost no acoustic treatment.

maybe you re more a musician and producer , getting the highest quality mix is not important for you, you like how your sound translate it s fine.. then get some synths you enjoy the sound, get a hardware eq a compressor, a culture vulture and a eventide and dont go out of the winter to learn how to use that stuff
