Ok so I keep having a bunch of problems lately with cubase and I dont know what the hell is going on. This is my latest problem.
I use my nord as a MIDI controller to come up with melody's and such. But for some reason now when I press a key on my nord it wont play back the note. Infact the only way I can get any sound from the vst is by actually editing in notes in the piano roll and pressing play. Does that make any sense?
I know my nord is not the problem since I can assign midi channels and play back perfectly fine when I use it. I also know that cubase is recieving and sending out the MIDI data. I just dont get any sound from my vst's when I press a key. Any ideas what happened?
I was also just thinking of reinstalling cubase and hoping it would fix all the problems Ive been having. So If I did this the only folder I have to back up would be my VST folder correct? |

First I wanna say thanks for the reply.
Yes I do have enable record on and my settings with the preferences are checked. My cubase is seriously tweaking out on me now and its pissing me off. It wouldn't be so bad if I understood whats causing it.
To top things off for some reason my projects will only play out of my right monitor now and not through my left. I've tried reinstalling cubase and deleting all its stienberg folders except for the vst folder and it hasnt fixed a thing. Im about ready to ram my fist through the computer screen.... |

Yip, use the "record" button on the transport panel. For assigning your midi-controller's knobs to those of your instrument, look up "generic remote" in your manual (the document which tells you how to do stuff in Cubase or Nuendo). Some plugins, like Reaktor have a "midi-learn" feature though, which you can access by right clicking the knob.
